(Kannapolis, NC) - Heath Phillips, in his 2003 Intimidators debut, shut down the Legends taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning in Thursday night’s 7-0 shutout over Lexington at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis.

Joey Gillikin gave the Intimidators (23-28) all the offense they would need powering a solo home run, his second, over the left field wall with one out in the second inning.

In the fifth inning, the Intimidators padded the lead scoring twice in the inning. With two outs, Pedro Lopez walked and took second on a wild pitch by starter Devern Hansack. Anthony Webster followed with a double scoring Lopez. Andy Gonzalez lined a single over the shortstop into left field scoring Webster. Hansack (4-4) took the loss surrendering three runs, all earned, in five innings.

Osvaldo Fernando broke up Phillips’ no-hit bid with one out in the seventh inning hitting a double to left-center field. Phillips (1-0), just activated from the disabled list, held Lexington scoreless in eight innings of work sprinkling three hits and one walk while striking out two.

The Intimidators tagged Legends reliever Rodrigo Escobar for four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. The highlight of the innings was Gus Molina’s bases clearing double with the bases loaded.

Lexington (22-31) returns home to hosting the Greensboro Bats. The Intimidators welcome the Charleston, WV Alley Cats to Fieldcrest Cannon on Friday night with the first pitch at 7:05pm.
