White Sox Magic Number

Featured Replies

The Sox Magic Number is now at 161 with last night's victory over the Tribe.

Although, assuming we sweep everyone in the division, the Magic Number would then be 143.

Actually, I believe the MN is 162.

Yes it is 162.

Really? I thought a win counted for something in the M#. I guess I was wrong.

You start the season with a MN of 163. The MN over Cleveland is 161. All the rest, it's 162.

It can't be 162 because there are only 161 games left. If the Magic number is more than the games remaining, you cannot clinch. If you started the season with a MN of 163 and only 162 games, on paper you wouldn't be able to clinch.

The problem is you really can't do it effectively until you have played each team in the Division.
