GreatScott82
Early on in the 2006 season so far it has been the offense that has sparked this team's winning ways. The pitching started off cold, but now they are taking off as well. Last season it seemed like we won many 3-2, 4-3, 2-1 games. So far early on in the year it seems like we are scoring 5 to 6 runs per game. Thats very solid, and with this rotation and defense, it can go a long way. Here are the batting #'s for our starting lineup for the first 15 games: Scott Podsednick Avg: .204 (but is coming around) and 3 SBs. I was worried about his groin issue, but it looks like the Scotty Pods of last season is back. Tadahito Iguchi Avg: .314, he is still sacrificing himself to go along with 6 BBs and 6 RBIs. I'm glad Ozzie put him back in the 2 hole. Jim Thome Avg: .333 with an OBP of .538, 7 HRs, 18 BBs and 19 runs scored. And 14 RBIs. Wow what a beast! Paul Konerko Avg: .351 with an OBP of .415, 5 HRs, 16 RBIs, he also has 5 2Bs. Yeah Pauly is continuing on from last season success! Jermaine Dye Avg: .282, with 10 BB and 9 RBIs. These are the #s we expect from JD! A.J. Pierzynski Avg: .283, with 4 RBIs and 5 runs scored. As long as AJ can carry a decent stick we should be fine. His true value is behind the plate. Joe Crede Avg: .314, with 12 RBIs, and 5 2Bs. Crede has been a great surpise early on, showing that he not only capable of getting clutch hits, but he can also hit for average. Juan Uribe Avg: .200, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Juan hasn't spurted out of the gates like some other players, but he'll come around. His HR on Wednesday was nice to see. As long as can move the runners over and continue flashing his leather at SS we'll be fine. Brian Anderson Avg: .132, and 17 SOs. YIKES! The rookie is off to a bad start. But sometimes it takes rookies to get going. Lets not forget how long it took for Rowand to get going, or the 0-43 Ventura start. As long as BA can flash the leather in CF for now, he'll be okay. He'll come around. He's our 9th place hitter, shouldn't worry too much about this. As you can see for the most part our offense is getting it done. With Pods coming around we should be even more dangerous, because now we'll have the speed to go along with the power. But we all can agree that our offensive MVP for the first 15 games has to be the new comer Jim Thome! Keep it going big guy!
LVSoxFan
I'm diggin' this new offensive powerhouse this year, although in the back of my mind I'll never be satisfied unless our pitching and defense are our #1 asset. I guess winning the big one with that sort of makes you a zealot about it. And the only thing that kinda worries me right now is Politte and Cotts--and little bit about Garland. To your point, this is fun. Konerko usually stinks for the first two months and Crede as well. What an unexpected surprise to have them pretty much come out looking like they're still playing in the World Series. And you're right--should Pods breakout we're going to have some real fun. Continuing this scenario, if Anderson ever wakes up, look out. Juan "I'll swing at anything" Uribe continues to induce forehead-slapping this year, but his defense makes up for any deficiencies at the plate, and then some. I still cannot believe some of the plays he makes at SS--it's like a web gem every time he touches the ball.
