June 4, 200619 yr Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum...but I went back to IL this week to my Dad's to help out after the passing of my mother this week. In a box that my Mom and Dad had packed up earlier for me was a 1952 White Sox yearbook (along with a 1983 and 1990 game program, a 1993 Diamond View volume 2, and a 1955 scorebook)...but the 1952 yearbook was autographed by these guys next to their photos: Nellie Fox Minnie Minosa Eddie Robinson Luis Aloma Sherm Lollar Howie Judson Hector Rodriquez and Saul Rogovin It's in really great shape except for a tear on one page. Just wondered if anybody had any advise on were to take it or if anybody could estimate a ballpark value on it so I don't get hosed.

One wouldn't think a tear in one page would make a huge difference but it does. Plus, the most valuable autographs are single signed, either on a baseball or a check or a piece of paper. The 1952 yearbook isn't a rare piece but you do have a nice collectible on your hands. My guess is it's worth anywhere from $30-$40. I would check out Ebay for prices, just put White Sox in their search and you'll see all kinds of stuff. If you sell it to a dealer, expect to get maybe $20. The most valuable items you have in there are the deceased player autographs, particularly Fox because he is a HOF. However a glut of Nellie Fox memorabilia just came on the market, Leylands auctioned off a large lot of it ... directly from the Fox family. The '83 and '90 game programs aren't rare, probably will net a couple of bucks each, i.e. less than $10. If it were me, I would list it on Ebay, put a But It Now price on it, and see what you get. You will get dinged an Ebay fee of course. You may be better off just keeping the stuff in your family and show your kids. Wish I had better thoughts for you, particularly on value, but that's my general impression.
