From today's Trib:

 

It's virtually certain Jose Contreras will be limited to one inning, at most, at Tuesday's All-Star Game.

 

That became clearer Thursday after White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen set his rotation for the second half so Contreras will open July 14 against New York at Yankee Stadium, followed by Mark Buehrle and Freddy Garcia.

 

The rotation is aligned so Contreras (9-0) will start the final game of a three-game series at Detroit on July 20 and will get an extra day of rest because of a day off in between the Yankees and Tigers series.

 

Jon Garland and Javier Vazquez will start the first two games of the Detroit series at Comerica Park.

 

That doesnt make this Sox fan happy.

I have no problem with Garland starting, I'm starting to become more and more confident with him with every start. Vaz on the other hand.....

Sounds good to me.

 

Hopefully Vaz will start to pitch decent after the break.

 

If not, we've got a problem.

Garland does seem to be rounding into form pretty nicely. However, I guess I would just want my big guns going for the series, not my 4,5,1...

O well, we will still kick there ass.

Obviously it'd be nice to have Mark going but at this point I'd rather have Jon pitching against them than Freddy, jmo.

Would you rather have Garland and Vazquez starting in Yankee stadium?

 

Garland has pitched very well lately, and proved last year that an extended rest benefits him. Let's hope the rest also helps Vazquez find himself.

I think we are 5-1 against the Tigers so far this year. I have confidence we will see offense and pitching come together. Garland is getting better each time and Vazquez hopefully will finally figure it out too.

Well, Garland is 1-1 against the Tigers this year and has lowered his ERA from 6.25 in late-May to 5.30 at present. Though I hope that the Tigers can possibly push it back up a bit.

 

I wish I could provide more info as to how the Tigers rotation would match up, but I have not heard anything as to a post-ASB rotation from Leyland. It may be due to how Ozzie uses Rogers in the All-Star Game. I doubt that Rogers would see a lot of action, but the rotation may be flopped slightly due to this.

 

I'd love a chance for the Tigers to bust Contreras out of his streak, but other than that I definitely don't want to see him pitching against Detroit.

Contreras

Buehrle

Garcia

Garland

Vazquez?

Someone was asking me last night to name the pitches each of our starters throw. I have a pretty good idea, but can someone give a list for Contreras, Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, and Javi.. Thanks!

The more starts we can get for garcia on the road, the better.
