June 19, 200322 yr I know Lee loves to play there but how do we sit the hottest bat unless we move Ordonez to center. Konerko should not even make the trip. Jimenez/Lee/Thomas/Daubach/Ordonez/Valentin/Olivo/Crede/Pitcher
June 19, 200322 yr Lee has killed the cubs throught the years with hsi bat and did you see BD play right this season? he was a butcvher fielding out there. I cannot agree. CLee has to play.
June 19, 200322 yr CLEE is the OWN against the lousy scrubs and will once again lead us in a SWEEP over the lousy team from the north
June 19, 200322 yr Author 6 outs in three at-bats. Flying by the seat of our vintage pants gets us in trouble. I go with teh hot hand. History be damned.

June 20, 200322 yr I know Lee loves to play there but how do we sit the hottest bat unless we move Ordonez to center. Ask our idiot f***ing manager. CubKilla Carlos Lee MUST play. JM is a f***ing asshole. Maybe he's planning on PK having another 2 HR, 6+ RBI game.
June 20, 200322 yr Here's the dilemna with the "play Lee vs. Cubs or don't" debate ... Manuel is faced with the following: - Carlos Lee failed yet again today in situational hitting, in arguably the most crucial game this year. In his press conference after the game, Manuel states either guys get the job done or they sit. - Daubach has suspect defensive skills in the outfield; Wrigley is a tough place to play outfield. - Konerko is in the most brutal slump of his (or anyones) career. He's not hitting a lick. - Thomas has to play first because there's no DH, plus, he's hitting better than Konerko. - Rowand has been rotting on the bench, and I don't know if Manuel risks putting him into the highest profile series of the season so far. - Valentin is in a big hitting funk, as is Jimenez. - Jimenez runs the Sox out of yet another inning today. - Harris can't get down an effective bunt, and he's the leadoff hitter. His average is Mendoza-esque. - Rios hasn't been doing much lately either. For Manuel, that's one heck of a lot of issues ... no ... problems to deal with. It's a mess. If it's me, I get Graffanino in there at SS tomorrow vs. the left hander (Estes). Rowand in center (again, left hander going). Konerko on the bench. Lee in left, he scalds the Cubs. No matter how you slice it, you've got guys out there who on performance alone, don't deserve to be out there. Problem is, you've got 9 positions to field. The Sox have roughly, what, 20 guys who are underachieving this season?
June 20, 200322 yr The Sox have roughly, what, 20 guys who are underachieving this season? I thought it was 24 (I give credit to E Lo and that is it).
June 20, 200322 yr CWS, you're pretty much right. I guess I'd have a hard time criticizing these guys performances this yr.: Loiaza ... Marte ... Olivo ... Graffanino maybe ... Wunsch. All of the others, to a man, have had major difficult stretches or have underachieved compared to their historical standard of performance. Overachievers? Loiaza ... maybe Marte. No wonder we are 6.5 out and well under .500
June 20, 200322 yr your analysis two-three posts ago was very good - I have to agree to add Kelly W and Olivo to my "not underacheiving" list and maybe Marte - I just cannot warm up to Graf this year - he is another rnon-bunter and he has been ok in the field so he and Marte go on the neither under achieving nor over achieving list - and Frank is about to go on that list too -

He had to do that to make sure Harris scored. The only negative I saw from him yesterday was that he couldn't get a bunt down twice.(But as the other DJ said no body on this team can bunt.)
