In Idaho, ranchers and farmers have quite a sway. And despite the fact that they are compensated (usually higher than market) for their losses, they have always been angry with the wolf reintroduction program.

 

Hopefully some level of federal protection remains. The Idaho packs are a key link for wolves moving south along the Rockies.
