June 23, 200322 yr Beltran is not a FA this yr. I have been and continue to be indifferent to DJ, though I have absolutely no desire to see him at SS, 2nd however is the easiest position to fill for us from within or the outside(Castillo, Alomar, Vina are FA's) so....... Kong is a double edged sword, he has little trade value for us unless he gets hot in the second half but if he gets hot in the second half there'll be significant resistance to trading him. I'd personally take whatever reliever Evans or Beane offered up. CLee won't get us a SS or CFer in return, he may however fetch us a Carlos Pena. I'm still an Arow guy and I think by the end of the yr he'll have turned things around but I do think CF is a pos. that could definitely be upgraded. I just don't see any deal out there for us to get it done. Koch continues to make my support of Foulke over his detractors look brilliant, however I don't see us being able to "Beane" anybody out of their closer in a swap so I guess it's another round of Malox, super-sized! IMO, SS and pitching are the most glaring player concerns with management being the top priority, I guess I'll just have to wait and see which direction the new(hopefully) management team wants to go in.
June 23, 200322 yr I agree, I do not want Jimenez anywhere near SS, he just does not seem to be the leader type I want at SS. I really do not care having him at 2B anymore either, I do not think he is a top major league 2Bman, I wanted him to be and we gave him quite a chance, but I would rather he go elsewhere.
June 23, 200322 yr You are brilliant UNS, you are brilliant. :-) Damm you really know how to get me puffy chested on a Monday MSF.
June 23, 200322 yr .........I wanted him to be and we gave him quite a chance, but I would rather he go elsewhere. Exactly!! I honestly didn't know he was as slow as he is, that's a speed position nowadays unless you have it at another unexpected position(and of course we have clydesdales everywhere you look). I've seen enough too.
June 23, 200322 yr I sense that the Sox Brass are losing faith in Jiminez -- just my gut feeling. I would not be surprised if Jose is back next year, even if he hits only .230 or so this year. We have no other options unless we trade for a hotshot SS prospect like Sanchez or we go after that Japanese kid, which would be totally out of character for the Sox. I have no idea what he would cost or even if we have scouted him. Anybody have info on that subject? At least we would not have to give up our 2004 number 1 draft pick for him.
June 23, 200322 yr He does seem too good to be true for us Jim, which of course means we have no interest whats-so-ever.
June 24, 200322 yr Not giving up a Number 1 pick is the what's so sweet about looking at this Japanese SS. For too long, this organization has either been unwilling or unitelligent enough to "think outside the box".
