Won't matter, I know

So, I just got the most recent silly MLB "Fans at the Bat" survey, and it asked participants to describe the one thing they would like to change about MLB. As one of the many people getting screwed over the year with MLBs decision to offer the Extra innings package exclusively through DirectTV, this is what I wrote them:

Don't be such money-grubbing a$$holes when it comes to letting fans watch out of market games.

The move to take Extra Innings exclusively to DirectTV screws a whole lot of fans who have loyally paid a lot of money to follow their out of market clubs. Lots of those people can't switch to DirectTV so you are completely leaving them out in the cold.

The desktop game delivery via the crappy mlbTV service is not comparable to being able to just turn on the TV and watch a broadcast quality game. Even with the upped data rate of the premium service this year it will not compare to just being able to watch the damn games on TV. If you want to be able to run your computer feed, you have to have the connections or hardware and proficiency to do that. And for me, that won't be possible because I'm usually using my computer for something else while the games are on so it can't do dedicated duty as a media server.

So sorry you didn't get the cable companies to give you the deal you wanted for the baseball Channel starting in 2008, but it's lousy business to take it out on the fans.

Your bad business decision is probably the best thing that ever happened to Slingbox. I know at least a dozen faithful Extra Innings subscribers who are going to sling the games from the homes of friends and families rather than giving MLB more money for less product. As for me, it looks like I'll go back to seeing maybe 20 out of market TV broadcasts instead of the 150 or so I have been able to watch the last four years.

You guys keep coming up with ways to drive fans away. Kudos.

It would have come off a lot better sans the swearing. That message might get filtered out and never read just because of the "naughty" words.

It is BS though...

Meh, I figure it would get deleted on receipt anyway. They don't give a fish what the fans think.

I am glad that when they appended a PhD upon your name, you did not lose the ability to clearly express your views. Your students would be so f***ing proud :headbang
