I've got some fond memories of San Angelo,

and I've seen some beauty queens in El Paso,

but the best lookin women that I've ever seen,

have all been in Texas and all wearin jeans

Chorus:

I'm a country plowboy, not an urban cowboy,

and I dont ride bulls but I have fought some men,

drive a pickup truck,

trust in God and luck and I live to love Texas women.

I thought I'd seen beauty in faraway places,

till I looked upon those Houston faces,

spent Hollywood nights up in Beverly Hills,

but they werent nothin like one night down in BROWNSVILLE

Repeat Chorus

I'm a pretty fair judge of the opposite sex,

and I aint seen nothin that will touch em' yet,

they may be from Waco or out in Lampassas,

but one thing about it they all come from Texas.

Repeat Chorus

I'm an Oiler fan not a soccer man,

and my arms are red and so is my blood,

and they make it boil with that soft Texas drawl and I love em all,

Texas women.

All my ex's live in Texas,

And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.

But all my ex's live in Texas

And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

Rosanna's down in Texarkana; wanted me to push her broom,

And sweet Ilene's in Abilene; she forgot I hung the moon,

And Allison in Galveston somehow lost her sanity,

And Dimples who now lives in Temple's got the law lookin’ for me.

Chorus:

All my ex's live in Texas,

And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.

But all my ex's live in Texas

And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

I remember that old Frio river where I learned to swim.

And it brings to mind another time where I wore my welcome thin.

My transcendental meditation, I go there each night,

But I always come back to myself long before daylight.

Chorus:

All my ex's live in Texas,

And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.

But all my ex's live in Texas

And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

Some folks think I'm hidin',

It's been rumored that I died,

But I'm alive and well in Tennessee.

As someone who has some experience on this topic, I can give you this most definite answer...

...it depends.

My ex thought it would be ok to date someone else while married...also while NOT telling me we were getting a divorce. I dated someone soon after she left...which was, how shall I say this nicely, idiotic.

BUT, the first REAL time I spent with my current wife was the night before I went to court for the divorce. Now, I wasn't very nice to her after about 8 months of dating, but that was all worked out and now we have been married for a year.

Bottom line, there isn't one answer. It's always going to hurt the other person when you (the universal you...not YOU Tex) starts dating again. But, if you meet the right person right away, who's to say it's wrong? Personally, even though it worked out for me, I'd err on the side of caution.

I guess it also depends on if you are serving up the papers or receiving?

That only matters for how quickly you get laid.

Not being married, I don't know how soon people should date. But I definitely wouldn't date someone until the divorce was finalized (and probably after a couple of months had lapsed there). But maybe I'm just old fashioned. :)

What if it was a contentious divorce? Or perhaps it's just taking longer for some legal reason? Or if one of the parties had disappeared?

(The last one happened. I was in court waiting for my name to be called and there was a guy before me who's wife left him and he had absolutely no idea where she was. Dead, alive, with someone else, whatever...he had no clue.)
