June 6, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) Wow, the game isn't even over yet and we've already got a negative thread. Can't we just win ONE GAME 14-1? Christ I cannot remember the last time we won where it was a laugher. Have we had one this year? We are just pathetic at the plate. Ridiculous.
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) Wow, the game isn't even over yet and we've already got a negative thread. After blowing up this team, blow up SoxTalk too. Too many Negative Nancies.
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) Greg Walker lol ... but it was a solid .247 HE only played 99 games that year. Was that the year he had that seizure during batting practice?
June 6, 200718 yr Wow, Ozzie was truly awful that year. 593 PA's, 23 extra base hits, 14 GIDP, and a .608 OPS. No wonder why he likes grindErstad so much
June 6, 200718 yr Author Yes, it was 1988 that Walker had a seizure. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...75BC0A96E948260
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) Can't we just win ONE GAME 14-1? Christ I cannot remember the last time we won where it was a laugher. Have we had one this year? We are just pathetic at the plate. Ridiculous. Our biggest win was 6-0 on Buerhle's shutout, I think. The Sox haven't really blown anyone out of the water this entire year.
June 6, 200718 yr Going by OPS+, it's a little more than 20 years. That 1988 team had an OPS+ of 88, the current Sox have an OPS+ of 78 -- a big difference. The last (only?) time the Sox had an OPS+ of 78 or less over a full season was 1910...
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:26 PM) Yes, it was 1988 that Walker had a seizure. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...75BC0A96E948260 Did he recover?
June 6, 200718 yr QUOTE(SadChiSoxFanOptimist @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 09:33 AM) Did he recover? lol Did that little gem go unnoticed? I'd put you in the quotes of the month thread if I wasn't so lazy.
June 6, 200718 yr I think the better question is, when he teaches our hitters to swing and tells them to re-enact his swing, does he have a seizure at that moment?
