June 30, 200718 yr Do you do both? Either? I think someone's about to deal me Verlander for Zambrano (he'll definitely do Halladay for Z) I covet Halladay but I don't trust his health going into the playoffs in September. I think Zambrano's likely to wind up with a lower win total and higher ERA than Verlander because of his slower fastball (compared to himself) and the fact that Verlander's better on a better team. What says you?
July 1, 200718 yr These challenge trades are always tough. I like Zambrano over Halladay. Besides health, Halladay just doesn't strike out as many batters and his team is in a tougher situation. Zambrano vs Verlander, meh, go with your hunch. Verlander has a better team and has pitched better this year, Zambrano has the history and a better k rate and he pitches in the NL, in a weak division, too. Verlander's had control issues lately, Zambrano always has control issues... It's very close.
July 1, 200718 yr Author I offered Zambrano + Morris for Verlander and Halladay but he didn't want it (I thought THAT was a steal) and he said, "Throw in Peavy and Wagner. I'll throw in Hoffman" and I hung up the phone. Edited July 1, 200718 yr by Gregory Pratt
July 1, 200718 yr QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) I offered Zambrano + Morris for Verlander and Halladay but he didn't want it (I thought THAT was a steal) and he said, "Throw in Peavy and Wagner. I'll throw in Hoffman" and I hung up the phone. Well I dont blame him Nobody in their right mind would do Big Z and Morris for Halladay and Verlander. Hell if you could do Zambrano for Verlander straight up I would most definitely do it. In that trade you proposed depending on the amt of closers you have y not throw in Hoffman. Even if it leaves you with one closer in Wagner you could just boot the category and trade off Wagner for a need, or 2 not so good closers.
