With these stars it seems to me that you post a certain amount and your rank goes up. So what stops some moron from coming and posting 1000 posts of crap yet becoming a superstar? Yet hes not a superstar at all, just the village idiot.

 

So why dont we set up a counsel to vote? They would need to be dedicated to this. There shall be five of them. Theyll be you, hsc, murcy, heather, and some one else, perhaps molto. Ill serve as a sub in case its someone like heather or hsc going up Ill come in and be the fifth voter.

 

So lets say the first promotion comes at 50 posts. You, chisoxfn (the counsel leader), will post a post in the off-topic board called "Theoldroman: From rookie to prospect". It must be a post, not a poll. If its a poll, anyone can vote and it would be crooked. At the bottom of your post, you say simple yes or no. If you say no, offer a short explanation. Then murcy and the others will come along and place their votes. If the poster fails the vote, he must wait one week to come back before the counsel.

 

Please tell me your ideas to improve on my idea, and lets try to work this out. Some here may not like it and maybe this is just a bad idea but I think it would give us all more merit in achieving rank.

No offense, but why don't we not worry about all the popularity stuff and just post what we feel like. I never pay much attention to the stars or rankings anyway. So what if someone posts 1000 messages of crap just to get a new ranking? If they want to waste all their time doing that for a meaningless ranking, so be it.

the only problem with that is people would take it the wrong way. too many babies out there who would leave the board or something because of this.

 

we are all sox fans talking, there should be no accepting or level of intelligent. it is a creative idea, but a problem that would be waiting to happen.

Yeah, molto, I guess youre right. If this board had a troll problem like the Sox mlb board, then this would be a good way to put down the trolls. But since we have no problems of the sort, I guess there is no point.

You could have that when you make a certain number of posts your ranking is a palyers name or something. For Example 1 post could be Jamie navarro and a million post could be babe ruth or hank aaron. Just a thought.

Whatever happens, we don't have to worry about trolls on this board, and I think everyone here will get respect no matter how many stars they have or how few they have. If you make good posts, people respect ya.
