Been Busy at Work

Featured Replies

Aloha -- I've been awfully busy at work.

Over the past few months, I've organized a non-perishables donation drive at my junior high with the help of the Student Council and Nat'l Junior Honors Society.

Our goal was 1,000 lbs. of non-perishables -- and a dance or movie for the winning grade level that brought in the most stuff (6th, 7th or 8th). I just got done moving the stuff out of my room to the food pantry in town.

I was told there that after we moved it all, we had 4-5,000 lbs. of food easily.

Needless to say, we got pictures and will be writing press releases especially to the local paper in Champaign (cough*News Gazette*cough) that chose not to run an article about it nor send any reporters over.

I wonder what a picture of myself standing with a PTO volunteer and the head of the pantry as we can barely fit in the room due to all the food the kids and staff brought in will do to their willingness to cover us the next time.

But all that aside, it was awesome that about 550 people can get 4-5,000 lbs. of food donated. It was amazing.

That's awesome, LCR, you should feel very proud that so many people will have a nice holiday because of your efforts and the efforts of everyone who worked with you!
