Let's draft Kyle Long

Featured Replies

Senior in high school right now in Virginia. Is 6'7 and weighs in at 285. Is a southpaw and throws a blazing 96MPH fastball. Read in SI magazine that he might go in the 1st round, like his brother Chris will in the NFL. Right now he is committed to play ball at Florida State. Don't know what any of his other pitches are like, but sounds like he could develop into a solid pitcher at the Major League level with that fastball, and if a adds a solid change. And talk about an athletic family. Jeez. Thoughts on this guy?

He needs to drop about 40 lbs.

He's damn tall though. Here's a few pics of him.

He might be a first rounder. That would be great if we were drafting last year, but we need the BPA at our position. That will not be Kyle Long. Look at the last few posts in the Draft/Scouting Thread I made. Those are guys I think the Sox would be better suited to go after.

He might be worth a look as a compensation pick between rounds 1 and 2.
