Lake County (13-7) @ Kanny (10-10), underway, the surprising Charles Shirek (1-1, 0.38, 16 K's and 0 BB's in last 3 games) starts for the Intimidators --- Shirek looks like a very interesting guy to watch. He was drafted in the 23rd round in 2007, and was mentioned as being a nice late round pickup. Pretty impressive for a guy who was just drafted to be doing this well, so far. He's 22, which isn't super-young, but its not old either for A-ball. In fact I'd say that puts him near the middle for that level.

But, Miranda has started very slow - which isn't really a huge surprise, he's 21 and has less than a year's experience in pro ball, and is now playing at High A. If Miranda does what he did in 2007 at Kanny, and get significantly better each month... then I'm betting he replaces Valido before the end of the year.
