December 5, 200817 yr Saw this in recent minor league transactions... Former Sox minor league pitcher Joe Torres signed with Texas for 2009. The 10th overall pick by the Angels in 2000, Torres had perhaps his finest pro season this year with the Birmingham Barons, going 3-1, 2.68 with 59 strikeouts, 31 walks and two home runs allowed in 50 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old made 59 appearances out of the Barons bullpen. Torres pitched in the White Sox system in both 2007 and 2008.

Not knowing his past history I would guess it's about time he showed something, but it's at the AA level and I wouls also guess there just wasn't any future with the Sox.

He had TJ surgery I think in 05 and it took a while for him to recover, plus I think he lost some zip on his pitches
