Porzio over Wright?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, it's been a while, but I'm back, at least sporadically.

Anyway, I caught these today in the Sun-Times (see #4) and the Tribune (see #3).

It seems that Porzio is going to get a few more starts (2 according to the Tribune) before the team makes a decision about whether to bring Danny back up or not.

Personally, I've always been a big fan of Danny Wright. I think he's got great stuff, and one of the better, if not the best fastball among the starters in the Sox system. Like Garland, until recently, he's been plagued by inconsistency, but he manages to scatter just enough sterling performances in there to make me think he can somehow put it all together.

Granted, if the Sox are trying to get back in the race, whatever slim chance they have won't be helped by Danny struggling to find his command. However, does that mean Porzio is the answer? I don't think so.

Danny Wright has the best arm on this team that I have seen. He just doesn't know how to harness it. Personally I think this is the PERFECT opportuinty to teach him to close.

I couldn't agree more, I think Wright will make an excellent closer.

should we call him Danny Gange?

Nope. This team is mediocre enough as is without the Danny Wrong Closer Experiment at this point. I'll stick with Gordon through seasons end (09/28) and perhaps make Wrong the closer in ST..... from the start.

Dan Wright needs to be sent down, either to the bullpen or the minors. Its a shame that the Sox dont have any decent pitchers ready for a call-up from AAA.

Lol@Danny Gagne. But yeah, I think it's comparable. Danny Wright has a great arm and a lot of talent. Maybe closer is the role for him. As we all know Gagne struglled as a starter and now, Well u all know. By the way. Please tell me Rocky f***in Biddle is not 3 in the nl in saves. U gotta be kiddin me. Why do our pitchers always stick it to us when they leave the Sox?

Maybe because our dumbf*** manager is one of the worst managers as far as pitching, BP, and assessing pitching talent goes  ? I mean, he is the guy that brought in Nardi Contreras when he was hired as manager here, right? The same Nardi that Lou Pinella called, "The WORST pitching coach in baseball"?

Yeah. I thought so.
