Gary Petis Moving To New York

Featured Replies

He's going to take over as first base coach of the New York Mets.

Another former member of the Chicago Baseball scene Don Baylor will also be joining the Mets staff as bench coach.

Considering that just about everybody on the Mets was a bust last year, Pettis and Baylor should fit right in :D

So far Howe has really set himself up to fail. LOL!

did he take waving wally with him... ya know they are like salt and pepper shakers and work best in pairs lol..........

Well, I don't think Baylor was a bad move. I really respect Don and think he's a great baseball man to have around. Heck, he was still classy even after being canned from the Cubs as he recommended the Cubs position to Dusty Baker and said the organization was very good.

I know one thing, I'd love having a guy with the character and baseball knowledge like Dusty Baker on our bench. Of course I'd love him as hitting coach.
