SoxComms Posted May 18, 2009 Share Posted May 18, 2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, May 18, 2009 WHITE SOX ANNOUNCE “GO-GO SOX” 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Members of Pennant-Winning Team To be Honored Prior to Game vs. Dodgers; Special Reception with Players To Benefit White Sox Charities CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1959 American League Champion “Go-Go Sox” with a special pregame ceremony and a reception, which will be open to fans, on Thursday, June 25 when the White Sox face the Los Angeles Dodgers, their World Series opponents in 1959, at U.S. Cellular Field. Members of the pennant-winning team will be honored prior to the game, then attend the special reception benefitting Chicago White Sox Charities. Members of the 1959 team scheduled to attend are Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio, Jim Landis, Jim McAnany, Billy Pierce and Jim Rivera. Fans who purchase tickets to the reception will receive: • A spot in a 100-person Diamond Suite, with premium buffet; • The opportunity to spend six innings of the game with the 1959 players; • An autograph from each 1959 player in attendance and • A commemorative “Go-Go Sox” anniversary gift. A limited number of tickets to the reception are $200 per person and currently are available for purchase by calling 312-674-5391. elrockinMT Posted May 19, 2009 Share Posted May 19, 2009 That was my first year of loving baseball and playing little league. The Sox were my team and Nellie Fox my hero. The MLB channel showed the highlights of the '59 series.
