I noticed Mitchell and Ness has released the 1972 Bill Melton home jersey (used to be a Grandstand exclusive) but it looks different than the first release.

Obviously the back lettering is in question. It looks similar to how they screwed around with the 1983 and 1985 jerseys.

 

Did they have different letter sizes during the early 70's?

There's a pic from an auction site on Google images that has "Allen" on the back of the jersey.
