Rob Bell: Pitching & Defense

The Rangers never saw Bell's heralded 12-to-6 curveball for more than a few pitches at a time. The inconsistency of the curve essentially reduced him to a fastball-only pitcher, as his changeup did not have enough separation from the fastball to be effective. Without a good curveball and changeup, Bell struggled against lefties. He also built up high pitch counts early in games, forcing the bullpen into play. Teams ran against Bell because of a high leg kick, but he didn't make an error in 23 chances
