38 times second base has been stolen against him and 52 times runners have been thrown out at second. Only three attempts against him to steal third and two were successful. He has also had home stolen against him once. So in total he holds stolen bases to 42% and league average is right around 70%. That is remarkable. He has 70 pickoffs to go along with 37 pickoffs while caught stealing. Jose contreras has averaged 20.4 stolen bases against of second base in his career compared to buehrle's 3.8.

Buehrle is decent you could say.

Tremendous post.

Great post and analysis, q. This is incredible, actually. It makes Buehrle more effective then he otherwise would be.

I feel like just as the older generation talks about Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams is how I will talk about Mark 30 years from now. Telling stories to the kids about how a pitcher who threw mostly in the high 80's threw a perfect game, retired all 27 in a no hitter, and saved a game in the World Series. And that is just the tip of the iceberg from a guy who if you saw him pitch for the first time would never have guessed that a guy with his stuff could accomplish all of those things

I may be wrong, but hasn't he thrown a couple of games where he faced the minimum, too? Other than the perfect game and no-hitter, I'm pretty sure he pitched a game against the Indians in which he faced the minimum (when the story came out that he used some new cream on his arms that made his skin burn, so he pitched even quicker than normal). And he may have even done it another time. That has to be some kind of a record.

Yea he definitely faced the minimum against the Indians. Two hits two double plays I believe.
