I read that. Awfully sad. But i mean that's a perfect example of why you need to have a collar, minimum, on your pet. I personally will never own an animal and not have it micro-chipped in the future.

Exactly. Pooch should have been given a collar and tag immediately.

If you have an outdoor animal it should be chipped.

 

A collar can fall off, even a chip doesnt mean that the person will actually look for it and scan it. Unfortunately some people do not make the best judgments when putting down animals.
