Hard to believe it's a huge factor at this point, but I found this article discussing partnerships by the Yankees, Cowboys, Rays, and Sox interesting. Dated May 3rd of this year, here's a quote:

Being less event based and with digital distribution; location, weather and lines are never an issue. And while you can’t serve a Legends sampler platter to the fan watching on his couch, you can serve him fantasy updates, video highlights stats and other interactive content. With other college conferences in the works and a plethora of other avenues to explore, Silver Chalice shall soon be as stated. Giving the White Sox a new stream of cash in bulk up Kenny Williams’ lineup.

I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine who works for the sox about this very subject. Frankly, its becuase I was wondering if they are hiring becuase it seems like a great job. Anyway, I know that Silver Chalice does provide a new revenue stream for the sox. How much and is it used on payroll I cant be sure. But I do know that the new SEC Iphone App is all Silver Chalice, thats their product that they created and marketed for the SEC. So you would assume clients like that can provide the Sox and Silver Chalice with a solid new revenue stream. Seriously though, are they hiring?

I read that article, tried my best to make some sense of it, and then resigned myself to the fact that i'm best at just watching Sox games while gurgling a beer on my couch and yelling "cmon more home runs grarghhgh"

The White Sox seem to "find" money every year and every year KW says they have extended themselves. Maybe this company provides some cash, but I think the truth is they are throwing a little more profit back into the team. Again, I'm not complaining, I only complained 1 season when they lowered payroll and raised ticket prices. Businesses usually want to make money.

Silver Chalice could be extremely profitable, but not to the tune of 10-20 million dollars a year. Not yet, at least.
