July 17, 201114 yr I'll be making my first Chicago appearance since 2004, my first as an adult. Im staying at the Waverton on N York St in Elmhurst. Kinda far from the park, but thats the way it is. I know the Redline takes me to the Cell, what is the best way to get to the Redline? Is there anything entertaining in Elmhurst? Any information you could provide to improve my trip will be highly appreciated. Also, if this is not the appropriate forum for this topic, feel free to move it. Thank you.
July 17, 201114 yr You can take the green line all the way to the park, which is the closest to you and no need to transfer to red line...you'd have to drive to get to it, but the problem is I wouldn't recommend taking the green line on the way back home. Your better option is taking the Metra, Union Pacific West, from the Elmhurst stop (one mile from hotel) all the way into the city (half hour or so) and then hop on the red line (about a mile walk to pick up the red line). On the way home the trains are 1040/1140/1240 so you might have to kill time or leave early depending on which train you want to catch.
July 17, 201114 yr Author Thanks man. I figure to have plenty of time to kill. Probably be at Bacardi at the Park most of the time the games arent actually taking place.
July 17, 201114 yr Enjoy your trip! I had an amazing experience staying in the River North district with my pops - I'm sure that you'll have a wonderful time. Bring home some white sox winners!!
July 18, 201114 yr If you take the metra you're going to get dropped off at the Ogilvie Transportation Center when you get there you're going to take Madison east (towards the river and lake). The red line is on State Street.
