Put me in the camp that just sees this as a wife with a gigantic grudge against her ex-husband who's moved onto bigger and better things. The fact that she's an analyst with Ely Lily doesn't exactly scream poor house, even with kids.

 

Edit: And the fact that the Judge went after his attorney for him not showing up is ludicrous (unless he had been ordered specifically to appear). That's why you hire an attorney, so you don't have to go.
