Winston-Salem Dash

Winston-Salem Dash left-hander Joe Serafin has been named Pitcher of the Week in the Carolina League for the week of Aug. 22-28. He becomes Winston-Salem’s second pitcher and fifth player to win a weekly league-wide award this season.

 

Serafin won the award based on his performance against the Salem Red Sox on Aug. 24. He got the win, throwing seven shutout innings with five hits allowed and no walks. His seven innings and seven strikeouts both matched season-highs as the Dash beat the Red Sox 3-0, the first of three consecutive shutout victories for Winston-Salem.
