Lesson help, music & poetry

I just completed a lesson for my 8th graders that I found on the Rock and Rockk Hall of Fame web site. I basically taught personification by using Wind Cries Mary. I am trying to find a more current song that also used personification, perhaps a hip hop song. Then, some ideas for other bits of peotry both classic rock and something more currernt.

Will the wind ever remember the names it has blown in the past. And with his crutch, it's old age, and it's wisdom it whispers no, this will be the last. And the wind cries Mary.

Good stuff right there.

Here's a boatload of examples of personification in modern pop music.

This was my lowest performing group, a special tutoring group. They correctly figured out the song was about someone losing someone. The stuff they didn't get was because of their age or needing some special knowledge.

Thanks for the link. It must be considered a blog because the school's server is blocking me.

Under the Bridge would be a good choice, I think. It's fairly obvious stuff, so it shouldn't be too hard to grasp, I'd think.
