August 24, 200322 yr Is Frank Thomas. Here's what he's done since the start of this week (Monday at home against the Angels) in 6 games heading into Sunday's finale with Texas... 7 for 25 (.280 avg) 6 HR (including the game winner on the 18th vs. Anaheim) 12 RBI 1.080 SLG With the week not being over yet, this obviously is not official, but if Frank isn't named the POTW, they ought to eliminate that distinction. Keep mashing, big man!

August 24, 200322 yr Author I think Frank is a canidate. U would have to see what other guys r doin... Like HSC said, nobody is putting up the power numbers that Frank is over the past week, but something that I forgot to mention is that his team is 6-0 during his hot stretch, showing that it's not being put to waste. The Sox are in a pennant race, and are in 1st place, and Frank has been a KEY component of that. Bonds had 2 walk-off HR's, but he missed like 3 or 4 games so far this week, so IMO he's not eligible for the honor. And even if he was, I'd say Frank still should get it because the Giants aren't in much of a race, whereas the Sox are in a dog fight.

Uhh being that Bonds is in the NL, i dont really think hes a threat to become AL player of the week this past week.

August 26, 200322 yr How many homers is he gonna finish up with. He's a very streaky guy, where he can go missing and not hit the ball at all to where he ends up clubbing clutch homers all week long. When he's on, he's ON. I don't think he'll make 45, I'll say 42 with a .270 avg. If we could take those numbers at the start of the year for Frank I think we would have all jumped at it straight away.
August 26, 200322 yr Author Well Tejada had a very good day on Sunday (3 hits, including a Grand Slam), and Frank went 0 for 3, which allowed Tejada to sneak in and get a share of the honor. Still, it was a very good week for the big man, and hopefully is a sign of things to come.

If that happens and he gets hot he could approach 50. I really believe that...
