Does the military have any "mentality" requirements? I assume you must be able to read and write... but is there a IQ level you must exceed?

I took a test called the "ASFAB" (?) during my senior year in HS when I was considering either the Marine Corp. or the Army. I told them I wanted to be a pilot. They said my test results placed me into the pilot categories. I said I wanted it in writing. They wouldn't do it.

 

The test was fairly easy from what I remember.

It was for me. It was just a basic battery of math, science & some social studies sprinkled in with mechanical aptitude crap. I scored pretty high. It's purpose is to determine a person's trainability.

 

Nowadays they tell me you can sign up to go straight from basic to Warrant Officers school to become a chopper pilot in the Army.
