I got an email this morning from my mother and her co-workers because the parents (Jane & Jack) of one of her co-workers (Tom) are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today. One of the messages in the chain caught my eye. It said: "Jane & Jack, Congratulations on your 40th wedding anniversary. That’s the best deal I’ve ever made – even better than signing Dick Allen, Jim Kaat, and Harold Baines! Love you, Roland" After asking Tom a few questions, it turns out that Tom's dad Jack and Roland Hemond have know each other since they were kids and Roland actually introduced Jack to Jane all those years ago. Anyway, not much else to say about it, but it thought it was pretty cool in a small world kind of way.

BTW, his birthday is the same day as the day the Sox won the World Series in 2005. Because game 3 lasted past midnight, he saw 2 WS wins on his birthday that year.
