A Tale of Two Outfielders: Courtney Hawkins and Jason Coats

Featured Replies

Courtney Hawkins is the #7 prospect in the system. Coats was just outside the Top 30. Vastly different tools in some regards, and on the surface they seem nothing alike other than both being outfielders. But if you dig deeper, you may find they aren't as far apart as you originally thought.

Here I make that case.

Let's hear it - how whacked out am I on this?

Great piece Matt!

I think this a better job of highlighting Coats. Hawkins still has a massive ceiling, he's just very young and has some holes as to be expected.

Hawkins is still clearly the better prospect. I was more pointing out that perhaps Hawkins isn't the Top 5 guy some folks have him at, and I think Coats isn't in the 30s anymore either.

Interesting perspective, great article. Thanks for writing that!
