According to the New York Daily News...

If Maddux agrees to arbitration, giving him a new one-year arrangement with Atlanta, the Braves will deal Ortiz to the Cardinals for second baseman Fernando Viña. If Maddux doesn't agree, the Braves could become a player for free agent outfielder Cliff Floyd.

 

I am not sure if they would have any interest in any of our 2B but hopefully Williams tries if Maddux does agree. I think Atlanta has to move one of their SP's if Maddux agrees. Millwood would bring them the most and clear more salary, but I think they may still move Ortiz. I am not getting my hopes up, but I can only hope that KW tries again. We now know that he did really want Ortiz, I hope he knows that Ortiz may be available yet again.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I'd definately offer them Harris, Liefer and Stewart and see what they think.

 

Maybe we could get him cheaper. Its not like Vina is that great of a pickup. Its a solid move, but they'd be getting killed. Of course he is experienced.

And then who the hell does St. Louis use at 2B? I think that is a false rumor....who would they get, Marcus Giles or something? Maybe Keith Lockhart? Yeah right...that's f***ing hilarious...we'd be blowing St. Louis away with our offer.

Vina has been on the trade block since the end of the season.

If Atlanta put Ortiz or Millwood on the block, I'm sure they'd want PK. They've been needing a 1B forever. Something including Leifer might get it done, however.

What the f*** is Atlanta thinking then? Damien Moss is pretty f***ing good. If they didn't want Ortiz why lose Moss? Moss for Vina would have been criminal.

I still don't understand their logic. Moss was one of my favorite young pitchers. This guy definately reminds me of BUerhle, but with an Aussie accent. Glavine absolutely raved about the kid and helped him a ton. He came into the majors and dominated right from the get go.

 

He had like 5 or 6 straight games where he gave up like one or 2 runs or less.

 

Ortiz is good, but damn, Moss is real good, imo.

 

If we could get Moss I'd go for it. I'd also go for Ortiz or Millwood, but I wont' give up PK unless we get Furcal too.
