Has anybody written a story on McCann yet this spring? Seems obvious to see if he's OK with his new role.
That Twitter guy Not Cishek, if you believe he has sources, has said that internally McCann is not happy being a backup and the Sox are trying to work a trade as a result.
Officially, among legitimate reporters, there hasn’t been anything said. McCann is being a pro. But it would only make sense that a guy who came out of nowhere to be an Allstar last year would be upset to see his team sign the premier free agent catcher of the offseason and change his role to backup.

You were wrong about the full article posting. Quit trying to make excuses and accept it. You are also wrong about your goofy formatting of bold, italics, and carriage return spacing after almost every sentence being “clearer to the reader.” Have you ever seen a formal report typed that way? No? Well, there’s a reason... Hell, the only thing you are missing is an underline or perhaps yellow highlighting on your text! Meanwhile, no one can even quote your posts without turning a thread into an illegible scroll-fest.

So you are saying that posting a link is allowable?
Most of the internet is for non-commercial purposes and this sure appears to be related to 'fair use' and 'educational purposes' but if this is the stated policy of Soxtalk as I asked for and was given an explanation.
Much appreciation for your explanation.
The link is okay but posting the entire content (i.e. article) is not, unless you and/or SoxTalk has written permission from NBCUniversal.

You are turrible. 😂

Regarding using a direct link versus copying article and referencing it's source and author which comes under 'fair use' and 'educational purposes' I enclose the link. If there is a distinction for the rational for this I would appreciate being educated on something I would like to learn about.
Again, thank you.
Respectfully submitted.

If he is an elite hitter why would DH not be a potential spot for him?
Because the Sox spent $12 million on EE already.

I don’t think it was a Devers or Basabe / Diaz. I think the Red Sox straight up rejected Devers ad the third piece and Hahn countered with a “I’d at least need Basabe & Devers” to get a deal done. I really don’t think that Hahn ever thought those alternatives were of equal value.
I believe this is correct. There was a great article that walked through step-by-step how the trade went down.
EDIT: I think this is the article:

No doubt. Cant wait to see these threads in mid-April wanting to cut him.
This already happened with Alonso last year and everyone was right. But I think EE will be fine.

If that were true, good chance he’d already be on another team.
The Sox could be holding out for their price or an injury to a starting catcher for more leverage.

Collins draws a 1 out walk
Just now, Jack Parkman said:Mercedes with another HR.
Trade McCann and go with Collins and Mercedes as your last bench spots. If their defense is so bad it causes issues, acquire a defensive catcher with no bat.

The good news is if EE is done based on spring training March 8 stats, Adam Engel is headed for the HOF.
I’m going to guess they switch roles to start the season. Engel will revert back to his bad self, as always.

EE is 0 for 15 with 8 strikeouts this spring. Rusty.

Collins isn’t a catcher. At least Chicago doesn’t think so just look how they have built the roster.
and the swing man you hypothetically get for him leaves a hole and puts pressure on grandal to catch 130 games.
hes not getting traded for a swing man or prospect. And that means he isn’t getting traded, no now anyways, check back in July.
It makes no sense to wait for the deadline to trade McCann. His value is at an all time high right now. If you wait until July, he could either not get enough appearances to prove his value or revert back to his Tigers line.
-
Collins starts 0-2, works it to full, and hits a 2-run homer. He is also leading the team in walks.
Trade McCann.

Sorry if this was posted already. An interesting take from Boston going back to the Sale trade.
Imagine if we had also gotten back Devers as the third piece over Basabe.

Last off season when the Sox didnt sign Machado then said the money will be spent focusing on their own players. Many posters scoffed at it and repeatedly asked, "when will the money be spent?"
This off season they have signed free agents and their own young players to a total of 336 million, pretty close to the amount that Machado would have made if he met all of the incentives in the contract. It looks like they've spent it. Hopefully, it was spent wisely.
That isn’t exactly an accurate summary. The concern was also that the Sox would never be willing to sign a top free agent to a $200+ million dollar deal.

I honestly expect playoffs. So much talent. I really think Hahn needs to focus on upgrading the bench if he can.

Bench players are not going to be Mike Trout quality. They have a skill set that comes into play several times a week. Engel happens to pocess several tools that play at a high level...primarily speed and defense. He actually has been hitting since second half of last year.
If he couldn’t play defense, he would be in the minors. Cuz he can’t hit for 💩.

He has raked before during Spring Training then went back to being Engel during the regular season.
And he will do it again this year.

Adam Engel... Spring Training stud, regular season scrub.

By that logic....why would anyone give up anything of value for McCann?
I think he could bring back a B level prospect. I’d probably take that for him.

Well, you would have to be insane to believe that.

I predict that if we keep McCann, people will be wishing we traded him by the end of the season because he will revert back to mediocrity.

Lol what's wrong with this picture?
Looks like a guy just enjoying a football game with his significant other.
Hard to tell how big he is with what he’s wearing, unless all the fat went to his face. That’s a massive HEED.

I wasn’t complaining at all. I liked the signing of EE. I was explaining why Yermin may not get his chance. Put away your “Jump to Conclusions” mat.
