    edit: it really is, they must not have changed the clocks yet :D

  2. Despite thriving on the base paths, much was made of Podsednik's struggles at the plate in 2004, when he hit .244 after logging a .314 average in the same number of games during an impressive rookie campaign one year earlier.

    "He worries about himself too much," Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen said. "If he goes 0-for-4, he worries about it too much. I say, 'Listen, I played 16 years and I went 0-for-4 almost every day. Don't worry about it, just go out and play the game the way you play.'"

    This doesn't really fit here, but I got a kick out Ozzie's quote.

    My junior year at SIU, Govenor Ryan showed up to either campaign or for just a speech, and as he left, a female student threw a cream pie in his face.

    Yeah, i remember that, but unlike Buchanan, Ryan was a real hard ass about it and wanted the girl to be punished to the fulll extent of the law.

  4. If this has been brought up previously, I apologize, but I have not seen it.

    Interesting note on that banner: Has anybody else noticed that Mark Buherle & Kerry Wood have pitched in exactly the same number of games? MB threw 25 games in relief in 2000, so KW has more starts, but the numbers are very similar, esp. considering KW is considered a god in the baseball media and MB is kind if an afterthought at best.

    whatever.... I ran a book for 8 years(for amusement only :D ) and this is what I was taught...  vegas could care less about 10%...  they want the home runs...  it doesn't happen every game, but it happens...

    I always thought that a bookmakers best scenario was to have equal $$$ on either side of the bet, that way they are guaranteed to make money.

  7. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 09:12 AM)
    Actually all I want out of Crede is solid defense and a .280-.300 average...IMO, .295, 8 HR's, 80RBI's > .240, 28HR's, 80RBI's. We need baserunners, not home runs.

    .280-.300? That's probably asking a little much. Plus Joe's HRs will clear the bases for Uribe & Pods to run wild.

  8. Troy E. Renck, of the Denver Post, reports Colorado Rockies C Charles Johnson will either be traded or released by the time the team's roster is set Sunday, April 3. C J.D. Closser is slated to start the season as the team's opening day catcher. Both the New York Mets and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are reportedly interested in adding Johnson to their rosters.

    Possibly one of these teams? :huh

  9. Congratulations. My girlfriends brother's wife gave birth to a baby boy last night. I got to see him less than 24 hours old. I believe he is the youngest human I have ever met. It it so amazing to see how small we start out as, but equally amazing how women walk around with such a large being inside of them. I definitly do not envy them. Anyway, congratulations again, I hope all goes well.

    No problem ,I'm making the most of my 1 month subscription to Comcast . Once the season starts I have the DirecTV MLB package and will dump the sports package which includes Comcast. :gosox3:

    Are you getting the ST games on Comcast? I live outside of Chicago, and when I looked into getting DTV, I was told that the games would be blacked out outisde of Chicago and that I would have to buy the MLB package to get the games.
