OK, I hardly ever look at the screen names of people, basically go by the avatar. I thought the last bunch of posts were one guy having a conversation with himself 😆

    You're thinking of Caulfield

Seems pretty simple to me. They’re replacing members of the coaching staff to sell fans that they’re making moves to improve the team (they know the team won’t improve). And when the team sucks next year, Grifol becomes the fall guy so they can further sell fans that they’re making moves to improve the team. The Sox are stretching it over two seasons to stay in that JR “almost” contending area to bleed the fans for longer without spending money.

I understand why no one has any confidence in anything this organization does, but if what Lip says is true and they entirely dismiss many of these "White Sox Way" lifers in the next few weeks, I doubt it is just to appease the fans. Coupled with the departure of Hahn/Williams, it could be the most major overhaul in the history of this ownership. I am not saying Getz is the solution or that they will do a good job picking the next staff, but I am not sure it can get much worse.

So, I can live with Grifol another season if they bring in talented coaches and evaluators from outside the dysfunctional White Sox family. Grifol's work at the ML level is the least concern with the number of other problems the org has from the ground up.

.Guys in the minor leagues are supposed to teach themselves, that's the way it's' done here.

What is interesting is I have heard the Sox are not the only team like this. They may take it to the lowest low, but in general, players are responsible for a lot of their own development in many organizations. Mentoring is really hit or miss depending on the MiLB level and primary position.

I should bump all the posts I made the last 5 years saying if we stop going to games and spending money on the Sox, change will happen and being ridiculed for it

    lol

"Not going to games isn't gonna get anyone fired!"

*Sox set a record decrease in attendance in 2023*

    *Both top execs fired*

    Congrats, You did it!

There's nothing more fun than following an "underdog" team with an abundant farm system.  Especially from either Central Division, because they're already underdogs (except the Cubs and Cards.)

Have spent a lot of time this year watching the Rays too, which inevitably only makes the White Sox seem that much worse by comparison.

In the end, I'm more embracing the sport itself than the White Sox as an individual team as we see over and over again how much JR, KW and Hahn don't really care about what the loyal fans of the team think...

This echoes a notion I have had in the past few years of lousy White Sox baseball. In this era where we have technology that allows us to watch any team we want, is the bandwagon approach actually the smart play? We've been shamed to think it is a poor approach to fandom, but why?

Rarely are White Sox players from the area, so it's not as if you're cheering for the hometown boys. Further, while the ballpark experience is fun, it is grossly overpriced and there are cheaper summer alternatives like local minor league baseball, among others.

So, why let a lousy franchise with a consistently mediocre product make us miserable while we watch a game we supposedly love, all while pouring hard earned $$$ into that franchise? If you really just love fun quality baseball, it makes more sense to invest in the MLB package and follow the young up and coming exciting teams. Then go to a Chicago Dogs game when you want a fun outing to the ballpark. The White Sox are just not worth my time, $, and emotions.

    Nice.

I'm mystified that we can't afford anything one minute but somehow are prolly gonna shell out 4/70 or something in that area the next second. Either they have something lined up already to shed payroll or someone persuaded JR to ease up a bit.

We know KW loved this kid going back to the draft and PG prolly also gave him a stamp of approval I assume from KC.

His stats vs ALC are very good.

Classic underpromise, over deliver strategy. They'll come out with some comments saying despite prior announcements, they saw an opportunity to get better so they pushed the budget and hopefully the fans reward them via attendance. Blah blah blah.

Like any other time people are told it was a heart problem or blockage or whatever.  But nothing, and media wouldn't ask.  It's weird.

With absolutely ZERO support beyond his DUI history, I strongly suspect it is related to some level of alcoholism and/or mental health issues. I see no other reason to be so cagey about his medical condition. The fact that he looked and sounded so much better in his farewell press conference makes me think he has been focused on some program to get cleaned up.

Again, I have no sources nor any expertise in any of this stuff. Just a dummy on a message board speculating.

There is a lot of truth in what you are writing.

I've always felt and wrote that I think it is a combination of players being "baseball-stupid" today in large part because they are rushed to the Major Leagues and haven't spent the time learning their craft in the minors. I also said that part of the blame goes to the Sox coaching/teaching staffs because what they are doing/saying isn't getting through obviously.

A family friend son is in the Cleveland organization, known for being better than most franchises at the player development side of things. He says that even there you're still very much on your own when it comes to developing your craft. The bonus babies get a bit more attention but to this day a lot of franchises think you either got it or you don't. They draft the big body, power guys and ignore the Altuves of the world. I believe the only thing saving the Sox from even worse seasons is the fact so many other teams in baseball aren't much better at development, scouting, and drafting.

This source also relayed to me they have heard last night that more folks are about to leave the Sox from the business side of the organization

Do you take this as a good house cleaning, or more of a concerning exodus of most remaining integrity and talent?

It’s pretty easy to see Tim’s off field s%*# effected him a lot.

Was there more beyond the multiple "allegations" of infidelity? Just seems that stuff is not uncommon for young star athletes so I am curious if only that would have such an impact on Tim and the entire team.

  11. Thanks for sharing. Great tidbits and not much of a surprise on most levels. I am curious if you can elaborate on why Anderson is deemed such a problem. He's clearly still got defensive issues but the statement about driving the car off a cliff is pretty damning. Thanks again for all this insight.

Ha well I guess I didnt write KW then. Maybe someone else. I'm old with hazy memories ! Maybe I just thought he should've been called up earlier and thought about writing someone about it in the Sox FO. Luckily I said "may have" because I wasn't sure about the timeline either.

I think it would have been Larry Himes, right? I believe the Sox brought up Thomas before they hired Ron Schueler.

That's why I thought it was going to be Getz.  They ask one of the guys on the interview team to interview you gotta figure it's because they couldn't find anyone they agreed on. I don't think that anymore.

I just keep thinking of Dick Cheney's search for W's VP running mate. So, I'll believe it when I see it.
