Maybin with a 2 -out game tying homer in St. Louis.

Axford was a one-hit wonder. He's a Bob James.

Reds fans are feeling good.

Good move, I think. I can see later on in the season getting guys 5 days rest when they can, but for now, they need to minimize Humber's starts. I also could see this coming, since Humber is basically the 7th bullpen arm for the first series.
They weren't really going to go with 6 in the pen for any extended period of time.
-
The whole first series will be cold, but the best chance for precip is Saturday. Opening Day looks safe.
Kansas City looks good next Tuesday and Wednesday, and the current forecast for Chicago next Thursday is Cloudy and 58.

Just got to Cleveland, and there is SNOW on the ground -
It used to be Arizona, to Las Vegas, to another one-game city, to the opener.
It not that bad this time. They'll land in Cleveland in about 30 minutes. No big deal.

If you're on the 40-man, and you start the season on the DL, you're pretty much considered a big leaguer until you come off the DL. Viciedo will be optioned to AAA when he comes off the DL.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2011 -> 05:20 PM)Especially if we're concerned about the weather early in the season, yes. A double header makes things especially hard.
Just about every one of our pitchers gets better on extra rest, more than 5 days actually helps these guys. I think there was one who didn't, but it was an iffy comparison, when I looked last year.
Ok, I may have to come over to your side on this issue. I did look up the Floyd, Buehrle, and Danks's splits, and indeed, they were all much better on 5 days rest over 4 days rest last year. I guess I won't complain either way on this, but I'd rather only see Humber twice over four times. We'll see how it plays out in April.

Even better.
I'm just a big believer that if you have a crappy 5th starter, and you can skip him without the other four pitching on short rest, you do it.

Garza's spring ERA - 10.38
It doesn't mean anything now, but if he starts off slow, it may mean something. Bad arm?

Another fine Ozzie Guillen spring training.
And yes, I'm kidding around and don't care about spring training results.

He should be loading the luggage in the bus right now.

Why is Lillibridge still playing? Aren't they leaving...like in an hour?

-
Dunn homer. See, nothing to worry about.
-
Like I said in the other thread, Humber should start the 9th and 19th, and Peavy should shoot for the 24th or 29th.
-
Doesn't make it much better. They can get away with him starting on the 9th and 19th against Wade Davis, and then hopefully Peavy is ready to come back on the 24th.
-
Humber is getting lit up by Sox minor leaguers. Brandon Short homered off him, and they've scored at least 4 runs in one inning.
I'm not going to second guess this...if they don't push Humber back to April 9th, they are stupid. They need to lean on the top 4 while Peavy is out.
-
Peavy is currently pitching against Sox minor leaguers (and some major leaguers).
7 up/7 down, including striking out Quentin.

The Sox play the Rays 8 games in April, and the A's 10 games from April 11- June 12.
I'll accept splits from both, but hopefully the Rays are a slow starter this season.
The A's scare me because their starting pitching is tough, and they could be tight, low scoring games.
