  1. I know this is dreaming but Rick Hahn should be talking with the Rockies about any and all possibilities for making a deal. A source tells Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports that the Rockies will keep their "eyes and ears open" on trade offers for Carlos Gonzalez. With the club having extended a $15.3 million qualifying offer to Michael Cuddyer, the Rockies outfield is shaping up to be a bit crowded (and pricey) next season. Unloading CarGo and his $16 million contract in 2015 -- and the $37 million remaining in the two years after that -- would help alleviate that logjam. With a new general manager running the show, the team may be more willing to talk about Gonzalez and star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki than it has in the past. Nov 5 - 7:36 PM Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that the Rockies have been "poking around" on a potential Troy Tulowitzki trade with the Mets, but he continues to hear that a deal is "not happening." In other words, not much has changed over the past month. Rockies owner Dick Monfort is close with Tulo and is inclined to keep him or get the OK from his star shortstop before signing off on a deal. Things could change if the Mets (or someone else) gets aggressive, but at this point it looks like Tulo is staying put in Colorado. Dec 8 - 2:24 PM
  2. The Rockies have a few Outfielders that may be available for the right price. Why not try offering Danks and Viciedo for Drew Stubbs or Charlie Blackmon. Perhaps the Rockies would like to move Cargo or Dickerson for the right offer. My choice would be find a way to get Dickerson but would be fine with any of these outfielders.
  3. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 05:40 AM) I was touting Dickerson last year; the kid can hit. The guy who might be on the trading block is Cargo. Cuddyer FA after this season. seems like CarGO is turing into Carlos Quentin, he ends up on the DL every year.
  4. I would like to see Rick Hahn trade for Corey Dickerson and have him play everyday LF for the Whitesox. Corey is getting time with the injuries to starters Cargo and Cuddyer but when they are both healthy it will be back to the bench for Dickerson. What do you guys think it would take to pry Dickerson away from the Rockies?
  5. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) I say they fire KW and promote Hahn. There are a lot of teams who think he is the next big time GM..it would also diffuse the Oz and Kw crap. I agree and would hate to lose Hahn if he is the real deal!
  6. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) About KW and bad trades, Gio for Swisher says hi...about Ditka being the "last famous HC to win before last years Blackhawks", Phil Jackson says WTF! Excellent point. Sorry, the Bulls have been terribull (pun intened) up until the arrival of D-Rose. My apologies to Coach Jackson.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) An overrated, and more importantly, overpaid major league roster full of bums, mental midgets and underachievers. A minor league system that offers nothing outside of one position player and a few relievers. A manager who, for all intents and purposes, quit on his team. A GM who really has no idea wtf he's doing and hasn't since '05. An owner who's as worthless as a submarine with screen doors. Lousy attendance. There's just nothing to like about this organization right now. We belong to one team. Not the Red Sox. Not the Yankees or Phillies. The motherf***ing Twins. Warning: Extremely long post! I also do not like how this season has gone thus far but what irks me is fans like you who quit on the team. KW and Ozzie deserve more respect for how they turned the Sox around years ago from a cultural disaster and winning standpoint. What I am not saying here: KW & Oz should not be untouchable and should be accountable for their fair share of mistakes. Obviously, from my perspective they have not yet earned a one way ticket out of town. The truth is this team was in a major slump where losing was the norm year in year out. KW and Ozzie have revitalized this organization. If they didn't you would probably already be a cubs fan (may be a little harsh since I do not know you but it got your attention!). I would argue that Williams and Guillen are actually responsible for having raised all of our expectations to the point that Sox fans no longer except mediocrity. I view this as a good thing. I still believe in the overall philosophy of Jerry, KW, and Ozzie; the vision to re-instill White Sox baseball by bring back a lot of former Sox players from the 80's etc. Heck, they have even recently brought Robin Ventura back in a limited minor league role. I really think this Sox Family philosophy is key to success oh and it would be helpful if the player perform as expected….Rios, Dunn, Bacon….et al!!! Kenny Williams: Sure, I do not always agree with KW roster moves (feel he has bit of a gambling problem that only worsened after having much luck in 2005) and it is not coincidental that the Sox are ALL IN! Anyone looking at his trade history understand why this is a fitting marketing slogan. But know this; Kenny Williams is a very competitive GM that wants to win it all every year but that is what I want in a GM. I too wish KW would exercise some restraints before trading away some of the young guys but other than lets say Chris Young and Daniel Hudson which trades have really come back to haunt the Sox? I can't think of many. Ozzie Guillen: Now let me talk about the man you most want gone: Ozzie. I love Ozzie’s fire and passion for the game and how he is not afraid to mix it up. Yes, I also agree that his rants grow old from time to time. Question: is it hypocritical if Sox fans who also are Bears fan could love this same passion and fire that we all loved in Coach Ditka who happened to be the last famous Head Coach to win a major championship before the Black Hawks? Yes, Ditka finally wore out his welcome with management and I am not saying Ozzie will not eventually do the same. I think managing baseball has to be the hardest sport too manager as the season is so long with fewest playoff spots. Not an excuse but a reality of baseballs current format. Now it is impossible for me to follow the sox as close as when I lived in Chicago but your demand for Ozzie to be fired is not going to solve the problem. Firing Ozzie will only accomplish one thing, last place and a lame duck manager such like past managers like Terry "boomer" Bevington, Jerry Manual, Gene Lamont etc. Here is an alternative for your axe to grind: Why not give credit where credit is due...the players deserve credit for how this season has gone so far due to performance. Here is the good news: As bad as this team has played the first half, they are only a few games back and still have a chance. Go Sox!
  8. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:47 AM) Jimmy, Longshot, ElGonzo, Kevo, Parker, Bob, etc. Sounds like there'll be a few of us out there tonight, and for the series. I've got obligation for tonight's game, but I was wondering if any of you will be going to Thursday afternoon's game and want to meet for a soda beforehand. There's any number of sports bars in the immediate area that are pretty much the same, so let me suggest The Sports Column at 1930 Blake Street (stone's throw from home plate) at around 11:30-noon. I'll be wearing the red '71-'75 cap. I'm sitting in the WellsFargo club level tonight, but on Thursday, I'll be getting a ticket at the Park, or scalping something cheap just outside, which should be easy on a weekday afternoon. I'm posted this in each of our threads to make sure we see it. Don't know how to merge, sorry. Hope to see you Thursday! I will be at Wed and Thursday game. Will see if I can get downtown early enough Thurs to stop into the Sports Column.
  9. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 09:33 PM) I already posted a few weeks ago that I was excited that the White Sox were coming to Coors. I live in Colorado Springs (And no, I am not one of THOSE people from Colorado Springs.) and have tickets for my family for all 3 games. Can't wait! BTW, did you ever go to the Aurelios Pizza in Parker? It closed a couple years ago, but it was a part of the same Chicago (Homewood, actually. My wife is from there.) chain. Same recipe. We used to drive up there every few weeks. Yes, I went to TF South in Lansing so I know about Aurelios. BTW - the Parker location closed a few years ago (I live in Parker) and we now have Granellies Pizza, really good - owners is from Tinley Park, IL and has a location in Castle Rock as well. We go every other week just about. I am going to Wed & Thursday.
  10. I live here in Denver area (Southside of Course!)and very excited to be going to a couple games this week when the SOX visit beautiful Coors Field. note: Has it been that long ago...Last time the Sox came to Denver, they won the WS! Side Note: This has always bothered me but why is the AL and NL unbalanced? The AL West has only four teams and I think the Rockies should be move to the AL West. I admit the motivation behind my suggestion includes that I would get to see the SOX every year here in Denver but does anyone have a clue what MLB is thinking?
  11. Since we are on the subject of Dunn and I hate to bring up what if scenarios as hindsight is 20/20 but too bad KW was unable to make this trade: (http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2010-12...ager-white-sox) I saw an archived story from last off season that: Sox offered Beckham, prospects for first baseman Gonzalez Konerko's agent meets with Reinsdorf, assistant GM Hahn December 06, 2010|By Dave van Dyck, Tribune reporter ORLANDO, Fla. — It would have been a trade that shocked Chicago, South Side and North Side. The White Sox discussed a monster swap with the Padres for first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, offering Gordon Beckham and two other prospects, the apparent "Plan B" if Paul Konerko would not re-sign................. Just think if we could of had A-Gon and Konerko the 2011 lineup could have been: Lillbridege -2b Rios - CF Ramirez - SS Gonzales - 1B Konerko - DH/1B Quinten - LF Vicedo - RF AJ - C Morel - 3B who know, maybe Dunn will catch fire in the second half and KW calls up Dayan V and Bacon gets out of his funk as well.
  12. The best seats we had at the cell had to be back in the early days of "New Comiskey Park" in either 1991 or 1992 but I don't remeber excactly. What I do remember was that I took my nephew who was about 3 or 4 years old at the time to his first Sox game. This was a big deal since my older brother is a cub fan and I wanted my newphew to see a real game and not a smelly beer garden! The Sox were hosting the A's and a cousins got us tickets 1st row box seats even with the 1st base! What made this game ultra special was that my toddler nephew got 2 foul balls in the same inning! I was telling my nephew to yell out the last name of the 1st base coach for both teams as they might give him a ball should they catch one. Sure enough he caught there attention and they waved. In the top half of the 5th one of the A's hit a foul down the rightfield line and the sox 1st base coach caught it an pointed to my nephew and then tossed the ball to me for him. We were both thrilled! Then in the bottom of the same inning it happend again but this time it was the A's 1st base coach who snagged a foul ball and walked over and handed it to my nephew who later gave me one of his two fould balls!
  13. How about making a run at aquiring Roy Holliday from Toronto and what would take to get a deal done?
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 01:51 PM) Yeah, you're right I didn't even look at the captions. Good call. Any photo by the AP or Getty can be enlarged. I noticed the same thing about AJ who seems to have lost atleast 1 chin.
  15. My only problem with DictV is that you have to pay $ for the HD service, $ for the NFL Ticket and than once you are hooked on HD service they make you buy the superfan to get the NFL Ticket in HD. I can not pay the extra $ for the stupid superfan and it pisses me off that you have to pay twice for HD service but since I live out of state their is nothing I can do about it.
