  1. I can imagine scenarios where it would be best for the organization and the individual to be sent to a lower level for what would likely be a short time. I appear to be the only one who recognizes that possibility. I made no statement regarding its likelihood. And the opening day loss had nothing or little to do with anything Yoan did or didn't do. I did not predict that "send down" scenario and am certainly not hoping for that scenario. My reputation is not riding on the 2018 success or failure of Yoan Moncada or any other player. I hope he he has a long and glorious career with the White Sox.
  2. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 09:53 PM) Did you come over from the Sox board on MLB? I recognize the name. Yes, but I can't find a suitable image of a horse's axx for my avatar.
  3. I didn't read all pages of this thread, but I read the first post and agree. I assume the other pages are more posters agreeing to the terms stated.
  4. .....and Yoan's 0-for clearly wasn't the reason the Sox lost today. I was pleased by the pitching of Shields and the hitting of so many others. I thought the Sox would be down by four or more after five innings. Any clarification on Abreu's glove issue?
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 08:44 PM) Baseball isn't typically a game of instant success. The Mike Trouts of the world are rare indeed. The developmental curve of an Avi Garcia or Yolmer Sanchez is more normal. Some guys take time, especially if they weren't fundementally sound to start with. The kid is a toolbox. It could take 3 years for him to figure it out. That wouldn't be crazy at age 22. Exactly. And I won't be disappointed if he continues to struggle. Nor will I be disappointed if he gets sent to a lower level if his struggles are greater than expected. That wouldn't mean he couldn't return and excel.
  6. QUOTE (Richie @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 08:01 PM) .....By the same logic that says today is a red flag for Moncada - We should have been celebrating the home run and clutch RBI double in KC like he had somehow staked a claim in the big leagues and proven himself. It's absurd logic. That wasn't me. I've heard Hawk and too many others say, "So and so will be just fine" too many times. Maybe this time they'll be right about Yoan. I hope they are right. I hope Fulmer makes us happy, too, but if he continued failing to make it through two innings each start I wouldn't want him at the top level without end. I wasn't rooting for the failure of LaRoche, Dunne, and the Danks brothers either, but I won't accept the assurances of posters here or Harrelson that so and so will be just fine.
  7. Pardon my skepticism. I hope Yoan Moncada is great. I suppose keeping him in the lineup if he underperforms all season won't be any worse than watching Harry Chappas, Dayan Viciedo, Bee Bee Richard, Gordon Beckham, and countless others I've seen pushed out as the future over the decades.
  8. ....and I didn't suggest sending Moncada anywhere anytime soon. Let's see what's happening around Memorial Day.
  9. QUOTE (Username @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:44 PM) Giancarlo Stanton had 5 Ks in a 9 inning game the other day lol. And he has been around for how long? Not a valid comparison.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:30 PM) Sending him down? Yeah that definitely wont look like an overreaction. Not now. But if the 0 fors get out of hand and he's battling .175 at Memorial Day with plenty of PA, you're not doing him any favors keeping him at the top level.
  11. Davidson needed a few seasons, and it remains too soon in this season to confirm his emergence as a consistent power hitter. Give Moncada time, maybe even time at a lower level.
  12. I remain surprised. Two decent team starts in a row: Fulmer, then James. I like that part. And I like the hitting from the usual suspects.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:16 PM) I wonder how many times Yoan has played in anything near this weather He better get used to it quickly.
  14. I thought the Sox would be down 6-2 after five innings. They made it fun for a while.
  15. Attendance: 33,318. Not bad, considering the weather, last year's record, and crosstown competition (for baseball fan $$$$).
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 05:08 PM) this is absurd, just call the game. you can't play baseball in this s***. I'm sure they'll play 9. Btw...... Check out April 7, 1977 White Sox at Blue Jays on YouTube. They were shoveling snow off the field.
  17. Davidson does it again. I was a non-believer when Matt first came to town. No more.
  18. Sure hope all the other top prospects turn out as advertised like Avi.
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 04:56 PM) Need to get some more runs here True enough. They're playing all 9.
  20. Anyone know why mlb shut down all of their message boards? Was the mlb White Sox board the last to be shut down?
  21. QUOTE (GermanSoxFan @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 04:30 PM) Hopefully this game gets called after 5. Being in the stands must be miserable and the level of play is impacted by the weather. Coldest game I've been at was a few seasons ago vs. Boston. Peavy & AJ were playing for the Red Sox. AJ got a nice standing O. The upper deck was closed. I believe we received passes for another April game as we left the park. We dressed for winter. I enjoyed the game, though I don't recall the outcome.
  22. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 04:28 PM) Abreu deserves to be a part of this 2020-2022 team. I hope we do not trade him. Agreed.
