He's not lying just for twitter love, someone is def feeding him info and he's not intentionally making anything up... but I have reason to believe he hasn't been very accurate of late. I haven't heard anything and won't for at least a few weeks I'd imagine. Free agency is a day old and Boras controls the market this winter, so I'm assuming it's going to be slow and torturous. I wouldn't publicize info even if I did have though unless I know the ink is dry, no offense to you guys. Last thing I want is to F up an opportunity for the Sox to get better. I think we are all happy with this offseason though and that doesn't mean Rendon/Stras/Cole, at least not right now. I skimmed the last few pages of this thread this afternoon and a lot of the acquisition combos you guys have thrown out seem totally plausible/doable to me. No excuses anymore. Can't have any Ervin Santana type signings anymore, it's go time. Also next year I would be ALL IN on signing Mookie. Give him a blank check and I'm not kidding

They were cheap ways to lube up Machado's ego. Who cares about those signings? They weren't ever gonna be here for more than a year anyways. The front office went to the extremes of their comfort levels of what they'd guarantee Machado knowing they're going to have a few players (Moncada, maybe Robert) in due time that are due for similar pay days. If those incentive + incentive years kicked in and they owe him the extra 100MM he's more than likely dominating, so it'd be a good problem for them to have. He wasn't even *that* good this year and we'll see how he ages. There's a lot more they can do with that money than dump it all on one player. Key is ya know... actually spending that money in the next 1-2 years. If November through March doesn't render 3-5 really good players (and I'm not talking about Cole or Rendon) then we have every right to freak out. Losing out on Machado sucked, but I don't think it's worth talking about 9 months later. It is what it is and there's still a path to contention without him

You really think the front office is obtuse enough to methodically lead on the entire fanbase for an entire winter about *maybe* signing a premier free agent? Knowing fully half the fanbase would want to burn the stadium to the ground as a result? That's bananaland crazy

Also that one kid on the Joc rumor def had something and apparently it fell through last minute-ish I'm going but I'm every bit as confident the Sox land Machado now as I was last time I strolled over here. I don't know a single thing about Harper. I'm 99% sure that ship sailed a long long time ago, but that's just an assumption. For Machado I know what everyone else knows on Wednesday or so I thought it was really close but turned out to be a false alarm. They're in a great spot and in my opinion have no reason not to at least be high bidder at this point. Hello everyone. Just want to clear a few things up - someone DM'd me this thread today looking for info/clarification on what I know/don't know. -I know the sox are in a very good spot. This bucket (?) guy probably knows more than me. I don't care that he does, in fact I hope he does. Some people are acting like he's talking shit to me, he's not. We're all sox fans here. We all want what's best for the org -I have zero clue what the financials of the offer are. I do know it's 7 years. I assume they have room to budge if they need to. Right now, as far as I'm aware, they don't need to. I would assume it's for an AAV record of about $35MM, so I was just putting two and two together. I could be incorrect there. I wanted to clear that up because people are speaking as if I was stating it as fact. - I know there are a lot of people that don't like me in here. To each there own. I know my humor and style isn't for everyone. I am who I am. - I typically avoid message boards, facebook forums, etc. They can be good communities but they also lead to fans wanting to jump down each others throat. The few times I've meandered to these forums I saw that, so I haven't been here hardly ever since I knew they existed - if anyone has any questions let me know, because I'm not gonna make it a regular thing posting here.
