  1. The only reason I think the sox have a chance at bryce is that this deal offered to machado was probably a swellopt structured deal. Boras created the swellopt so he may be willing to entertain a similar deal to what was offered to manny. If they offer a deal that could swell to 350 MM then boras has to consider it.
  2. The Sox were willing to go that high if machado earned it the first few years. They wanted to limit risk on their end and manny wanted the guaranteed $$$. Sucks but is what it is
  3. Whether the Sox are willing to outbid remains to be seen, but definitely doesn’t seem like this is all just Lozano trying to get them to raise their bid like I was assuming earlier
  4. I still feel confident the Sox get Manny but man, if the padres ended up with him, it would be a massive punch to the gut. Seeing Tatis and manny together in the left side of that infield for years would be brutal. Unless, SD is dropping 350MM on him, the Sox can’t let it happen. With that being said, I feel like all these baseball people may be underestimating the White Sox’s willingness to spend. Everyone just sees that the Sox won’t raise their offer and assumes 250(?) is their max. Until now, they haven’t had a reason to show how high they’ll really go. I think (hope) they’ll surprise a lot of people
