What is it about benintendi that everyone loves? He’s not much better than Mazara. AB stinks at defense too and has a worse arm. Less power than Mazara. He does have better on base skills and has had a 4 win season but outside of that he’s been just an average hitter. Also his hard hit% and exit velo are below avg. he’s better but not that much better

I would not. Both aren’t any good so why not grab the guy that has a small chance of breaking out? Calhoun isn’t going to take the Sox to the playoffs so there’s no point.

I just looked at Price’s numbers from last year and he was actually much better than I thought. 10.73 k/9 and 3.6 fip. He’s not worthless

I wouldn’t hate trading for a pitcher, because prospects will have to be traded at some point. However, I’d prefer grabbing just short term free agent pitchers and waiting til after this year to see where kopech, stiever, dunning, cease, Lopez, rodon all end up. It’s unlikely but maybe pitching looks like a plus for this team after this upcoming season as there is a lot of potential there.

A lot of people overrating defense here...and ozuna isn’t even that bad of a fielder to begin with. He’d be a really solid signing imo. He’s got a lot of upside based on his hard hit rate and exit velo. They have money to spend and ozuna definitely isn’t a bad way to spend it. Have to get him or castellanos

Castellanos is the guy I want now. Never hurts to add another solid hitter who is still pretty young and improving in the field over the last few years. Having castellanos batting 6th or 7th in the lineup would be pretty darn good

So are analytics high or low on Bumgarner? He seems like the kind of guy they’d be low on but the fact that his fastball speed increased by so much has me thinking otherwise

If the Sox would have offered what it would have taken (probably 130ish mil), the contract starts to look bad. I’m glad they bid the highest and I’m glad they didn’t offer 15 mil more just to get the guy away from his wife’s fam. You guys all just want to find the negative in everything
