146 plate appearances, .669 OPS, and 2 injuries already this season.  So what exactly is Eloy good at, considering he can’t play defense?

Myles Straw has considerably more bWAR in a similar amount of plate appearances.

The White Sox will install Nick Nastrini back into their rotation, reports Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times (X link). Manager Pedro Grifol confirmed after tonight’s win over the Blue Jays that the rookie right-hander will take the ball tomorrow in Toronto, pushing Mike Clevinger back to Thursday’s series opener against the Orioles.

If Sox can sweep the Nationals on Tuesday they officially are merely a bad team, not historically bad. If the Sox get swept, that is really gonna be deflating and could lead to another bad losing streak. If the Sox split, it means nothing. Just my takes.

One doubleheader doesn't have this much meaning. But I like your moxie!

He's clearly ready. Mentally you can tell he believes he belongs and he has the raw talent to make it hold up. I'm sure he'll get into a slump but for now I think we can put any talk of being "rushed" aside.

Well, people get to announce that prospects suck after a slow first week, and we never pick on that. Ramos was definitely prepared to be a major leaguer.

Fair, but I think it's BS when we do that about prospects too.

Let's face it. With Pham, Ramos, Lee as starters let's face it, naysayers like me were wrong. This is now a .460 type team. Should we all declare Getz a budding star? Even the guy I hated on, DeJong, is hitterish right now. Eloy hasn't gotten hurt in a bit and also is not disgusting anymore. Could he be gulp, improving? This Ramos guy suddenly makes our injured third baseman immediately expendable. Get rid of Moncada soon as u can.

If the Sox could dump dead weight Lopez, Maldy and get them out of sight out of mind, mabe we can start showing real progress. And maybe we have good coaching staff. Our pitchers have not been miserable of late. Is somebody actually doing a good job with our starters and pen?

Am I a primma donna or are the Sox suddenly a .460 to .480 team? Love. me some Ramos. Love hitterish guys.

p.s. The Sox are getting close to being watchable. Will greg buy mlb.com? Not yet baby. I still don't believe.

you would think they'd just let Carter see lefties. Why not? Yeah he has a .250 OPS against LHP so far, but seemingly they have the lineup to allow him to get reps against them and still have a competitive lineup. I can't imagine platooning my team's young star with gross, man, are they gonna do that his whole career?

You're probably right. I was just thinking Grossman could provide a bit more balance rather than push out others.

Did I miss something Grossman did to make Texas want him? Did I miss another hot streak, like that one I missed from Sheets earlier in the season? Miss a little....well, still miss a little but miss something I guess.

I think this is actually quite simple.

Robbie Grossman is an above average right-handed hitter. Over .800 career OPS from the right side against left handers. Limited sample size, but that was continuing with the White Sox (.976 OPS). Over 900 with Texas last year too.

Meanwhile, Texas Rangers outfielders Travis Jankowski and Evan Carter (both lefties), are terrible against left-handed pitching.

On top of that, Wyatt Langford, another outfielder, just went on the DL for them.

I promise you it was "considered" not only that I would bet they begged teams to take him and there was no interest.  Why would there be for his injury history and his performance plus his salary?

    i think this is fair.

  10. Soroka has by far the worst FIP of all qualified pitchers in baseball.

The combination of below average velocity and bottom of the barrel control is a big problem. If he can throw more strikes I guess it's possible for him to become something of a poor-to-fair starter rather than a horrible starter.
