Three of those guys aren't like the others. Lopez, Martin, Brebbia are 16 of that 25.5 million (roughly 2/3) and should never, ever have been brought in. The other four guys were decent bets to turn 10 cents into 20. Just didn't work out. Gotta separate decent process from the results.

I guess.  The timing on bringing Clevinger in was questionable.  He still needed to get ramped up to pitch and the Sox had already been on pace for a historically bad season.

Getz did hit on Fedde and Pham, while DeJong and Tim Hill look like meh signings.

Getz is about 2 for 10, batting .200.

They paid $3M for a guy that put up 2.2 WAR last year. Of course it was worth it.

In an already lost season, pitching poorly, and with this new injury (the last two being hindsight I realize), Clevinger appears to be a waste of money just like most of Getz’s other offseason acquisitions.

    Brebbia — $7 million

    Maldonado — $4.5 million

    Nicky Lopez — $4.3 million

    Mike Clevinger — $3 million

    Mike Soroka — $3 million

    Chris Flexen — $1.75 million

$23.55 million wasted on complete and utter crap.  All players that are DFA candidates.

Seems pretty obvious to me they signed Clevinger to try and salvage an atrocious start. He was available to all other teams for little commitment and no one wanted him.

It’s pretty funny how all this scrambling for players by Getz hasn’t really moved the needle on their record, although it sure has made him look like a half-assed GM with zero plan.

Even if you want to call his performance "hindsight" it isn't to hindsight to say that no one wanted him at the deadline last year, nor did they all winter long.  It was a stupid move that wasn't worth the upside.

I thought he would pitch better than he has, although he did miss all of spring training.  Not as well as last year but better than he has this year.  I was hoping to see him pitch well so we would finally have the unquestionable answer on why no one traded for him last year, since no one could blame his contract this year.

Joe West was almost comical.  He was the definition of the ump show and seemed to love the fact that he was despised.  Hernandez was just a brutally bad umpire that seemed clueless that he was actually bad.

Exactly.  I almost think umps like Cowboy Joe West and Angel Hernandez made strange calls to put the attention on themselves and make the game about them rather than the teams and players.  I think the MLB is looking to phase out all of these “character” umps.

This premise that the majority of baseball fans are even aware that Angel Hernandez filed a lawsuit is crazy, let alone that being the reason, not the crazy blown calls, are the reason he is a target of ridicule.

I didn’t even know about Hernandez’s lawsuit until I read the big long article from JR’s USA Today minion Bob.

I never understood how baseball fans value draft picks like it's the NBA, NFL, NHL. It's by far the hardest sport to scout.

When your team has a collection of bad young major leaguers and old crappy veterans and you know your owner will never approve signing top free agents, what else is there to hope for than prospects turning into something?

Bruce Levine just on the score. Sure sounds like Pedro still ain't going anywhere. Also Bruce is terrible. I usually give the dude a chance but total apologist for Grifol and the organization.

He always plays Mr. Nice Guy so he doesn’t lose the few team sources that he may have.

You can look up those umpire scorecards and see that Angel is pedestrian. Not good or bad. You guys could literally look at the data and decide for yourself. Every single umpire could be the designated whipping boy, but we chose Angel. This is the reason why. Again, I don't say Angel had a good case to begin with with his lawsuit, but this is definitely propaganda to punish an uppity employee and everybody just lapped up the MLB's propaganda.

He was by far the worst of all umpires and that’s why the MLB paid him to retire.

Gavin Sheets on how he perceived Pedro Grifol’s meaning of flat Sunday: “I’m not sure. I thought we ran into a pretty good pitcher with pretty good stuff.”

I like how all the players seem to be colluding to disagree with whatever Grifol says to the media.  Seems pretty obvious at this point that they are trying to get him fired.

He was an average umpire that became the designated whipping boy after he filed a racial discrimination lawsuit. Whether he was right or wrong, I dunno, but that's the only reason he's the laughingstock of the MLB fan and target of our scorn. as I understand it, players seemed to like him. Fans just buy into whatever propaganda they're told.

Anyway, I'm 100% here for Junior Valentine becoming the new Angel. He has a dumber name (junior is your first name? what the f*** kind of name is that? valentine, what do you need some kisses, bitchboy?) and he's funny looking, I'm not even sure he has the ability to grow facial hair, pathetic!

He was lambasted on social media earlier on April 12 this season when Texas Rangers rookie Wyatt Langford struck out on three consecutive pitches that were outside of the strike zone. He missed on seven other pitchers that were at least three inches outside the strike zone.

    Brebbia is such wasted money.

$7 million burned in a fire pit 🔥 to go right along with Maldonado and Lopez’s combined $8.8 million.  $15.8 million guaranteed to three players that are DFA candidates.  Getz is terrible at his job.

Stone ends the Sheets HR highlight with "and all is well in Sox land." Steve, they're worst team in the league and they're currently down 2 runs with 5 outs left

The delusions of grandeur must’ve rubbed off of Schriffen and onto The Legend.
