  1. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) I agree...I say get DJ in the 7th, Dotel the 8th Thornton was wicked last night and the As have lots of lefties, I think he is the better option today.
  2. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) its ALWAYS his call, he can call it a strike, a ball, or get an appeal...anyway you slice it, its HIS call...and no argument from Lexi so that might tell you something as well I know it's HIS call, but that was close enough where the best angle for making that call comes from the 1st base ump. That is what they teach you in ump school that if it's close, you let your base umpire help you out.
  3. Again, we really want to lose this game. Our offense scores early and then shuts down. Let's hope Danks is still out there and can get three more outs. Then give it to Thornton and Jenks.
  4. Twice the home plate ump called a check swing strike that wasn't his call. That is for the 1st base ump.
  5. 15 more outs for a great day. 9 for us, 6 for Seattle.
  6. No surprise against a lefty. Wow, they are not smart. Ramirez vs. Paulie, who is the better hitter?
  7. KG caught ahuge break, that was a pefect strike.
  8. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:10 PM) I'm calling Griffey RBI here. It will have to be a bloop single against Embree. I would rather see Anderson pinch hit and stay in the game in CF.
  9. JD should have just bunted if he can't get the job done by swinging. This runner is huge, last night was a perfect example of what one run does. If anderson had scored, Jenks comes in the 9th and we probably win. No excuse to not getting him over there.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) It's interesting how some here and other websites want Danks shut down because of his innings pitched and others are advocating he throw 115-130 pitches because our bullpen is so horrid right now...that's why it's not so fun to be a manager. You have to balance short-term versus long-term benefits. Look at what Dusty Baker did to his pitching staff/s. Danks hasn't been past 100 pitches in many games this year, you can let him go so as long as he do this often. horrible at-bat so far for Dye.
  11. Be a team player here JD and get him over.
  12. I like CQs strategy too, first pitch swinging
  13. Operative word against Casilla (what was his original name before his Visa thing?) is patience. Take 1 strike at least.
  14. Danks has seemed to find a groove right now. I know he is gonna be up there in pitch count, but I'd let him go one more inning, but ready to pull him after an at-bat.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) Swisher's had multiple hits in multiple games only twice this season. He really doesn't even hit the ball hard right now. Soft grounders and pop-ups, there is no reason Anderson shouldn't be given some playing time.
  16. 2-0 with a guy having trouble hitting the strike zone, why is he even swinging there?
  17. 5-3 Minny, Seattle trying to help us.
  18. Go the opposite way Dye, why the hell is he always so pull happy?
  19. Put CQ in motion, we need something to changeup the rhythm of this game.
  20. We can't win on the road, the Twins can't lose at home. So yeah, pretty much as expected, we are gonna lose three games this series. I have no idea how we go from world beaters against the Royals to s*** against the A's. I don't even think the A's are much better, if at all than the Royals.
  21. wow. we are gonna be two games back by the end of this series. We again are trying to give the A's the lead.
  22. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) Down three pounds in the last two weeks to 280. Eighteen pounds to the 100 pound plateau. Seems more and more real every day. Went shopping last night. Tried on suits and with a slight alteration, I am fitting into a 50R. I had them look up, out of curiosity, the size of a sport coat I bought a couple of years ago and it was a 60! I went home and tried it on last night and it is like a freakin dress! Problem is now I have zero pants that fit. The closest pair is a pair of jeans that 2-3 months ago was too small. Now they are awfully baggy. My khakis are way too baggy. All other khakis and jeans are long gone past trying. Still trying to hold off buying new clothes as long as possible. Took an old suit in today to be altered. Nice work Rex!!! The hard part is over, you made it almost 100 pounds, now you're in a rythym and gonna keep losing the pounds. Keep it up.
  23. In the south Loop the best place ever is Manny's Deli. It's on South Jefferson and literally the best corned beef there is. Always packed and always good. It's a rare cafeteria style restaurant. Reinsdorf frecuents there, as well as many other politcians and cops/firefighters. You get a real good mix of Chicagoans.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 12:14 PM) Lots of cheap hits because Wassermann doesn't strike anyone out. In order to beat a ROOGY in the majors, you need to have a good slider. So far this season, Wassermann's been throwing almost primarily inside fastballs. ROOGY just doesn't have the same beatiful sound as LOOGY.
