Also, given the depth of pitching talent in our minor league system with such worthies as Adkins, Rauch, Cotts, Josh Stewart (health permitting) and others, I don't see why KW should even be pursuing the likes of Sidney Ponson in the first place.

Not necessarily. After the debacle of the 1997 season, Ron Schueler was retained as GM for 3 more years. It was Terry Bevington that was shown the door. Since Terry Bevington II will only be in his first year as manager, its ulikely that either of them will be fired. Especially since it was Reinsdorf who really made the decision to hire Bevington II in the first place.

Well, after the Ozzie Era is all over with, folks will be able to see just how good JM was as manager. But by then it will be too late to bring JM back, assuming that Reinsdorf/KW would ever admit to making an error.
