  1. Turnbow Designated FRIDAY, 9:34am: It's official - Turnbow has been designated for assignment. FRIDAY, 8:53am: Adam McCalvy says the Brewers will call up outfielder Joe Dillon today, leading to speculation that Turnbow will be designated. THURSDAY: Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel wonders whether the Brewers will decide to eat Derrick Turnbow's $3.2MM salary and release him. Not only is Turnbow unhappy, but he's been rocked in eight appearances this year. He probably needs a fresh start. I am not a fan of the "relief ERA" metric, but the Red Sox, Mariners, and Rangers fare poorly by it. In reality, there are probably a dozen teams that would like to try to straighten Turnbow out. Control, of course, is his main issue.
  2. I seen lastnight on the news that the Bears signed some kicker named Longest as well.
  3. Bears singed a FA QB after the draft. Nick Hill from SIU....Good luck Bears agree to deal with Southern Illinois QB By Vaughn McClure, 8:31 p.m. After not drafting a quarterback, Jerry Angelo said the Bears would look to sign a couple undrafted free-agent. The Bears have lined up at least one, agreeing to terms on a standard three-year deal with Southern Illinois' Nick Hill. The 6-foot-2, 214-pound Hill started all 14 games for the Salukis in 2007. He completed 258 of 361 passes for 3,175 yards with 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions. "We’re very excited about this opportunity for Nick,'' said agent Andrew Simms. "You always want your clients drafted. But when that doesn't happen, it's always about the next opportunity. With just two quarterbacks over there in Chicago, Nick has the opportunity to compete."
  4. QUOTE (southsidehawkeye @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) I wonder if Alexei is much of a bunter... After that 1st attempt I would go with not much. Nice job on the 2nd though...
  5. I wonder if they aren't thinking of using him at DE.... Kellen Davis TE 6'7" 262 Michigan State Pick Analysis:Davis played both tight end and defensive end last year at Michigan State. He is a talented pass rusher and has the size to make plays offensively as well. Ran a 4.59 in the 40, impressive given his size, and had four sacks in limited time on defense. There is some thought that his best spot could be at defensive end, but as Mike Vrabel has shown, it never hurts to have tight end skills as a pass rusher.
  6. No the Bears take a CB Zach Bowman.....offense is in need of major work and Angelo is drafting defense, Go figure.
  7. Hopefully the Bears are still looking for an OG...Donald Thomas 6' 4 and 303lbs from Conn. would be a solid choice me thinks. Another OT could be Brandon Keith from Northern Iowa.
  8. I didn't even see the pick of Harrison. I like that one. He is a big body who can block up the run.
  9. They are discussing Stelz now.....sounds positive...they compared him to Plank...the article said Fencik, so it can't be all bad.
  10. Round 4, Pick 21 (120) (From Buccaneers) Craig Steltz S 6'1" 210 LSU Pick Analysis:Stelz is a tough guy who is a sure tackler and comes up in run support. He made 20 starts at LSU and has a lot of experience at a top college program. Stelz was unable to workout at the combine due to injury, but performed well at his pro day. He's a high-character guy. Some may say Stelz is reminiscent of the old Chicago Bears safeties like Gary Fencik.
  11. Or another OL.....I guess Angelo had to get a Dman huh?
  12. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) Whatever, this team is awful. I'm actually considering watching the draft over the game, and I only get to watch one game a week. I turned on the draft in the 8th... only thing more annoying than how the Sox are playing is listening to this boob Berman.
  13. Oh well the Sox were playing over their heads for a while there and now they are coming back down to Earth.
  14. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) I am hoping, if anything, this is the straw that breaks the camel's back game for Uribe and Ramirez. Not a chance... Ozzie will keep running those two out there.
  15. According to WSCR Danks pitches game 1 and Buehrle pitches game 2
  16. Cubs winning now will only be more fun later in the season when they do their inevitable crash and burn.
