Comfortable chair...check. Beer...check. Kids to fetch me more beer and perhaps some snacks...check.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 6, 2010 -> 11:20 AM)You probably went to West.
Go Steelmen.
Actually went to HS in North Carolina. That might explain it.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 6, 2010 -> 11:08 AM)Or a two game winning streak...either one
Dammit. Why can't I do math?

Here's to a 3-game winning streak!

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 6, 2010 -> 06:29 AM)Im sick of hearing all of this "he is a beautiful person" s*** from the Mariners. Beautiful people dont accuse an entire city of racism, nor do they accuse their employer. Beautiful people dont try and charge into a pressbox because they disagree with what an announcer said. Beautiful people dont flip off fans or threaten fans with beer bottles. Beautiful people dont fight with teammates, they dont routinely argue with everyone they work with(coaches, managers, umpires).
He is a headcase who can play ball, sometimes.
Post of the day. You hit the nail on the head.

Okay, so Freddy looked passable? I believe that he's doing a fine job as the 5th starter. Sure, he struggles and sweats, but he only gave up 2 runs (a lot of hits, though) and gave the Sox a chance to win the game.
-
I didn't get to turn the game on until the Sox were already winning 5-0. From what I saw, though, Freddy looked good, Rios continues to impress, and Pierre seems to be coming around.
-
Rios looks like he's very comfortable at the plate...a big improvement over last year. He's playing like the player we expected, and maybe even a little better. He's batting over .300, and a few HRs, and has been good in situational/pressure situations. Plus, he's a legitimate center fielder, something the Sox haven't had in quite a while.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 5, 2010 -> 01:32 PM)When your team sucks, you're not going to win a lot of games.
This should go on one of those fake inspirational posters.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 5, 2010 -> 11:59 AM)I agree with Pierre and AJ. CQ got his lone hit on a pitch that is the epitome of a ball that was in his "wheel house"...a low/centercut pitch. Most pitcher aren't going to be pitching him there EVER. Pretty sure the pitch was just a mistake. Other than that hit he kept grounding out...
I'm more confident that Gordon is finding it. I mean, he was on base 3 times lastnight. That includes a hit to RIGHT FIELD. Which is a good sign for him. I can feel it that Gordo is coming around...
Pierre does look to be coming around. That's a good thing, especially considering he's going to try to steal every time he is on base. As long as he gets on base like he has the past few games, he could very well steal 50+ bases.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 4, 2010 -> 10:04 PM)We sure do love trading with the Royals...
You know...maybe the Sox and Royals could combine clubs, discharge all the fodder, and come up with one better team. Chicago RoyalSox! The sad thing is that one of our outfielders would still be Pierre or Podsednik.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 5, 2010 -> 09:22 AM)Wasn't Buck Coats with the Cubs once? :-/
I was just gonna post about what it might take for the Sox to acquire either Nyger Morgan from the Nationals or Lastings Milledge from the Pirates. I think if we DFA Kotsay, move Pierre to the bench, one of those guys can help the Sox more than either Kotsay or Pierre.
He was drafted by the Cubs in 2000. So, he's been around...and in the minors...for quite a while.
-
For a while this morning I was thinking that Danks was pitching tonight, so I was hopeful and optimistic of a win. But, even with Freddy I still feel pretty good. It's supposed to be fairly warm, so the sweat will probably be flowing. If Freddy does his part and the offense can get some damn hits (!), it should be a series win.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 5, 2010 -> 08:55 AM)I feel slightly bad for the guy whose thread was cancelled. Pointless? Yes. But you're told "we expect more meaningful threads around here," and yet the Justin Bieber thread currently sits at Page 3 on palehose talk.
All in lieu of wins i guess.
Yeah, the Rally Bieber only worked for one game. Maybe he should throw out another pitch?
-
This seems like a strange move to me. One almost has to wonder if KW is trying to set something else up. However, it's not like Coats is a young guy who could slip into the Sox's minors and become a future star...the guy is 28 and hasn't done much in his little time in the majors. Well, one can hope that KW has something up his sleeve, but I imagine this isn't much of anything.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 4, 2010 -> 09:48 AM)Unfortunately I believe Gavin will allow 5 hits today.
That should be okay...provided there's aonly 1 or 2 runs from those 5 hits.
-
JFP was JFP last night. Now we need GF to be GFF tonight. We need Sqwert to predict another no-hitter...that seemed to work for Peavy.
-
It was a lot of fun watching Peavy pitch. I don't think his fastball was ever straight, it was moving and diving and tailing all night. The Royals hitters looked outmatched. I think this is the Peavy we see the rest of the way.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 3, 2010 -> 03:11 PM)Since you don't think lineups matter, you'd be ok with something like this?
Paulie
Kotsay
Pierre
Teahen
Ramirez
AJ
Beckham
Carlos
Jones
How about:
Jones
Rios
AJ
Konerko
Carlos
Teahen
Beckham
Ramirez
Pierre
So, you got R, R, L repeated three times!
-
O goody! Kotsay's back in the 5th spot!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 3, 2010 -> 02:15 PM)It appears Juan has earned the job back. WAY TO GET EM JUAN.
By "earned the job back", I assume you mean that everyone else Ozzie tried sucked, too.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 3, 2010 -> 01:56 PM)You're comparing a pile of rock hard crap with a bowl of diarrhea.
Nice visual, thanks.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 3, 2010 -> 12:19 PM)Over his last 10 games, Podsednik is hitting .175 with a .409 OPS. They're not looking.
I was going to say they might notice the difference, but maybe not.
