  1. Bears are just so poorly coached. 15 seconds left and you need 2 scores, the only possible way is to kick the fg, go for the onside kick and have the last play be a hail mary. And this game is entirely different if they kick a field goal instead of foolishly going for it on 4th down.
  2. The coaching staff should be fired for not kicking the field goal.
  3. It just is odd. There are ways to protect your O-line, the Bears just refuse to do them. Empty sets are bad, lack of play action, no screens, no slants. Oh look play action on first down.
  4. The coaching staff is brutal. How they will continue to have jobs after this week is mind blowing.
  5. Jay Cutler has had to physically move him several times.
  6. Glad we didnt kick that field goal earlier, who would want to be up 13-7
  7. Lets just waste our challenge because we are stubborn and angry. Terrible decision originally, but you cant follow it up with a worse decision.
  8. Why dont you just take the 5 yard penalty and quick the fq. Makes no sense to burn a time out there.
  9. Sad, Forte had to tell Cutler that time was running out.
  10. Get to the line and snap the ball dont sit there and make your o line wait, this isnt rocket science.
  11. Saw Weezer last night, good times.
  12. What is experience? Hitting coach and 3b coach count, but spring league instructor/ special assistant do not? I guess Id just like some consistent definition of "experience" because neither Alomar nor Martinez has ever been a MLB manager (Im not even sure if theyve been minor league managers)
  13. You guys can keep trying to misconstrue the argument all you want, be so far no one has shown me a correlation of experience = results or no experience= no results. You bring up Joe Girardi, at what time does a guy get enough experience? What is your magic number, 1 year, 5 years, 20 years? The argument is that experience alone does not make a manager (neither good nor bad). I personally think the hire was an out of the box move, it remains to be seen whether it pays off or not, but I feel hes a huge upgrade to Ozzie, and I prefer him to Martinez/Alomar as well.
  14. Greg, The problem is that there is very little accountability in journalism because reporters are merely relying on their sources. Cowley's source could be a disgruntled employee who hates Cooper, he could be Reinsdorf's kid, you never know the legitimacy of an anonymous source. I personally dislike anonymity, any story that does not reveal the sources is suspicious in my opinion. Also, why would Cooper not end up as manager? If hes this power hungry monster, wouldnt that be the end game here? It just seems pretty far fetched, when the more likely scenario is that Ozzie wore out his welcome. You just cant act the way he did and not produce, its tiresome.
  15. lol I wouldnt put faith in me, Im good at failed expectations. Assuming for the sake of argument that Cowley is correct, then obviously its a messed up situation. The problem is that Cowley really hasnt proven to be a reliable source, and in some peoples opinion his nothing more than a shill for the Guillen clan. Personally I dont know, I like Robin Ventura and that is all that really matters. I dont like to get into the gossip columns thats for the birds. (Reading his column today was the first time in at least a year or longer)
  16. I dont believe anything in any newspaper (hyperbole obviously), Im kind of a cynic.
  17. Soxfest, I have no idea, but my inclination is that he gets paid middle of the road.
  18. Just was pointing out that Ventura made a lot more than Guillen.
  19. He could have said, 'Thanks but no thanks" You act like Ventura needs money, he made over $60mil in his playing career. Dave Martinez needs the money, Ventura doesnt. Ventura could buy Ozzie guillen.
  20. Sircaffey, Most managers get paid more than bench coaches, I cant find Dave Martinez's salary, but I expect Ventura will be paid more than him (provided he doesnt go to the Red Sox to be coach and get ridiculous money).
  21. DA, Im a fan of the move. I just was saying that he has been with the organization the last few months, and maybe behind close doors hes been making good suggestions/etc. I Who knows, nothing in life is certain. I like the move just because I think hell be different than Ozzie.
  22. Balta, Why do people keep saying Ventura must have been the cheapest solution? I would have to imagine Dave Martinez or Sandy Alomar would have come cheaper. Why? Because they are both already willing to work for a bench coach salary. Any job is going to be an increase in salary, and if anything it stands to reason the Sox may have had to overpay Ventura to convince him to actually pay the job. He has consistently turned down coaching jobs, so you have to expect that his paycheck was part of the reason he said yes.
  23. He must have done something as the rover this year to impress the Sox.
  24. Regardless how much we like Cooper, many managers are going to want the freedom to pick their guy.
